Produced by Yasushi Akimoto. After auditioning 22,509 applicants, the group Keyakizaka46 was born in August 2015, the second group of the "Sakamichi Series" following Nogizaka46.

Debuted on April 6, 2016 with her first single "Silent Majority". Became No. 1 in female artist Oricon first-week sales of all time.

At the end of the same year, eight months after their debut, they made their first appearance in the 67th Kohaku Uta Gassen singing competition. 

In November 2018, nine 2nd gen members joined.

Since their debut, they have gotten No. 1 on the Oricon single chart for eight consecutive works, and have participated in the Kohaku Uta Gassen for four consecutive years.

In September 2019, the first Tokyo Dome performance was held over two days.

In February 2020, 6 new Sakamichi trainees joined as 2nd gen members.

In July 2020, they held a live stream concert "KEYAKIZAKA46 Live Online, but with YOU!" and announced in the same concert that they would suspend their activities and change the name Keyakizaka46 after their last live concert in October.

In September, it was announced as a surprise on the giant screen in front of Shibuya station that the new group name will be Sakurazaka46.

Sakurazaka46 will start its activities on October 14, 2020. The 1st single will be released on December 9th!
