Interesting how some subreddits you’d expect to be controversial apparently arent, like teenagers, exjw, doki doki
Description: This visualization graphs subreddits from January through March of 2018 that had the lowest ratio of comments flagged as controversial versus total comments.
Findings: Unsurprisingly, subreddits created for the sole purpose of exchanging goods have very low controversial comment ratios. Support subreddits, such as r/exjw and r/raisedbynarcissists, exhibit low controversial comment ratios as well despite dealing with sensitive subjects.

i missed it, but here it is:
Reddit's most controversial subreddits.
What's up with that x axis?
I've been on r/DDLC for almost a year now, it has basically become a wholesome place, I have a feeling its a form of coping after that game X3.
Counting must be miles ahead. There's very little reason to downvote a comment there, and there are huge amounts of them.
Um excuse me, but where is r/rabbits? The comments section of that subreddit is the most wholesome place on the Internet.
Pokemontrades hides the downvote button which is probably why it’s so close to the top. This is probably the case for a few others on this list as well.
I am very surprised to see hardware swap and Teenagers here. Thx OP, TIL
Mechmarket and pokemontrades, thank you for exposing me to some of the wholesomeness in this world. Also DDLC caught me by surprise but I think I understand why if I think about it enough.
WTF is it with RocketLeagueExchange??? This is like the third or fourth time I've seen it pop up in one of these posts lately.
What is it? Or why does it tend to be on these graphics?
It’s trading for items in game, there’s an almost palpable market value for things depending on your console, and collectors wanting specific things don’t really leave much room for conversation, debate, or controversy most of the time. Most threads go something like: hey I want x, and I’ll offer 3y. Then the comments are like hey I have x, can you offer 4y instead? Or maybe z? And then it’s either yes or no. So interactions are fairly binary.
I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess that r/politics, r/PoliticalHumour and r/The_Donald have the most controversial posts

T_D's not even on there. It's an echo chamber.
You would think that subs like t_d that just ban all dissent might not be so controversial, because all the people who post controversial comments are silenced.
Some of the big sport ones are also quite bad.
actually they aren't, presumably because those who actually frequent those subs tend to have very streamlined similar views. It's heavy political subs that attract ideologies from all kinds that have the most controversial comments, like those discussing the syrian war, uk politics or r/conspiracy.
I think part of this is being brigade free. Sometimes when something hits r/all people who disagree with a community will comment and others from r/all will upvote making it controversial.
So what I’m seeing is that we have no reason to be scared of teenagers anymore? They really scared living the shit out of me in the mid-2000’s
I guess everyone needs to talk about depression, that can only be a good thing. The subreddits probably saved lives
