Negative Population Growth (NPG) is a national membership organization founded in 1972 to educate the American public and political leaders about the detrimental effects of overpopulation on our environment, resources and quality of life. NPG advocates a smaller and truly sustainable United States population accomplished through smaller families and lower, more traditional immigration levels.

2012 NPG Video Scholarship Contest Winners

NPG, a national membership organization devoted to population issues, invited students to compete in our Video Scholarship Contest. Without critical changes, U.S. population is projected to reach 438 million people in less than 40 years. Capture on film how this projected growth will negatively affect the United States socially, economically and environmentally. Submissions were to be between 1 and 3 minutes.

Arithmetic, Population and Energy- a talk by Al Bartlett

Dr. Albert A. Bartlett's celebrated lecture "Arithmetic, Population and Energy: Sustainability 101" is now available online. The presentation, viewable in ten-minute segments, is based on his paper Forgotten Fundamentals of the Energy Crisis (http://npg.org/specialreports/bartlett_index.htm). Professor Emeritus at University of Colorado at Boulder and author of several NPG Forum papers, Dr. Bartlett is an expert on the arithmetic of population growth and its effect on the environment.
