If you want realism, join the army instead of playing a video game. Realism is meant for real life. The purpose of video games are so that you can be entertained or experience something new or something that impossible in your life. If they do create a video game following everything in real life, it would be boring. and that is why calling a game, or an element in a game unrealistic is the stupidest arguement i have ever heard. |
Realism isn't just for real life. That's completely absurd. For a very large number of players, simulation games and realism is a giant part of the enjoyment from games. Realism is as logical an argument in something game related as anything else. People don't want realism from joining the army and losing most of your freedoms, being shipped halfway across the world, and being shot at. They want the realism of bullet penetration, accurately portrayed guns, and realistic situations. Telling them "if you want realism, join the army" is the single dumbest argument one can make. |
Not to mention it's a little tough to get in the SAS, Spetsnaz, Force Recon, Navy SEALS, and sniper school, etc. Oh, and not everyone can join military due to age, poor fitness, or something. If you got hit by a parked car you deserved it. If you really cared about the animals you wouldn't be running from them. |
If you want to have fun, play a video game instead of joining the army. Realism is meant for video games. The purpose of realism in video games is that you can be entertained or do something new, or something that don't get to experience in your life. If they didn't create a video game following some things in real life, it would be boring. And that is why calling a game, or an element in a game. Realistic not belonging in games is the most stupid arguement I have ever heard. |
The TC's argument is probably the most stupid thing one I've heard when people talk about fps. First off I don't own COD4 and the only fps I do play are sims. ArmA, OFP, Red Orchestra and other games. What's the point of having realistic looking weapons or skins if your going to have arcade gameplay. Might as well make it like halo. If fps did not have realism the genre would have died out by 2000 and be completely boring. Realism in fps games make them better and brings them to a new level. It also get's rid of simple concepts and forces tactical or realistic play. Which then forces teamwork. What would you rather play an 8 vs 8 of players jumping around run and gunning with little teamwork where grenades pop out of them and guns don't have sights and instead of recoil there is random dispersion. Or a game where there is no crosshair and to aim you have to use your scope or sight and where recoil and aimming take practice to get good at. And where you have to use teamwork to win and where smart decisions along with skills beat fast reflexes. Also in a video game you can't die. So you might as well say that you shouldn't go target shooting, play airsoft or paint ball and that argument can also be said for sports games. Which means you must like hockey games where the goalie turns into a brick wall as well? Or the football players lite on fire? Or you don't like realistic driving games? You would rather have Need For Speed over Grand Turismo? |
In this case I honestly think that a good mix between both is necessary. I personally wanted to try out for the army but was unable due to various factors. I find this game is good because of its realism, but it is still good because there are some factors that cannot be possible. PSN: Non_Thinker Steam: Non_Thinker |
"If you want realism, join the army instead of playing a video game" But what if I get lag out there, man? I'm dead! Plus, I heard there's no respawn in RL!! Sorry couldn't help myself lol. But in all seriousness the TC wins the Stupidest Argument of the Day Award. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z167/Pengalor/sig_2copy.jpg http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/malganis/Pengalor/advanced |
The CoD 4 promote itself as realism. The problem is that CoD4 is far from realistic. TF2 has far more tactical realism then CoD4 and that saying a lot. |
Want realism? Try Operation Flashpoint series. Some say the game is made for adult, but for me, the game isn't that fun to play. |
yeah remember America's Army? There's a reason it's free. |
