I've heard an explanation that Engels wasn't referencing authoritarianism as we understand it today, but force... i.e. a condemnation of pacifists and not a condemnation of people who were against authoritarianism.

When somebody tells you to read On Authority (or "do your own research"), it comes with an implied "...until you agree with what I think".

Here's a more comprehensive, helpful definition: authoritarianism is when only one political party is allowed in a country; authoritarianism is when loud, harmless criticism of the state or the state's leader is prohibited.

If you are a citizen of a country and can't stand in a public place and say "fuck [country leader]" then you are in an authoritarian country.

Is this more agreeable?

It's the twisted logic of saying Zionists are the true Jewish people. It's a useful conflation that helps nobody but bigots, and hurts nobody but Jews and Palestinians alike.

Recently the Jerusalem Post wrote a whole article calling any Jewish person who doesn't support Zionism an "un-Jew," insisting it's even worse than being a non-practicing ethnically Jewish person.

This is the same user who said, a while ago, that China is not a socialist country. They have been in EVS for a while and received a ton of upvotes there (even for that based statement); they are definitely not a troll.

I was gonna make a joking post about the arguments in this thread (because there are none), but instead of doing that I'm just gonna highlight how much of a Stalinist echo chamber EVS is. (Nobody bothered arguing with the based commenter either.)
