The forum is still due to close tomorrow so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their participation here over the last 10+ years.

It's been a pleasure to run such a friendly and vibrant community and I will miss it, and especially all of you.

Hopefully I will see you over on Discord, which seems to be going well so far.

Discord certainly does seem to be going fairly well so far, but I will certainly miss what we all had here on this platform! I hope that the same feeling of community does keep building over there.

I'll add my thanks for posterity to Huw and all the mods over the few years since I joined here.  Still getting used to Discord but it seems to be going well on the parts I've visited.  Some new people but plenty of those names familiar from here as well as the website.  See you all over there.

Probably my last post.

I've traded with some great people, learned a lot about how to pursue this hobby of mine, and have scored some great sales.  Oh, and the annual BSSS, which I have been incredibly blessed by, in both shopping and preparing hopefully thoughtful gifts as well as by receiving thoughtful gifts.

My thanks to all involved, especially the moderators.

I'm on the Discord under a different username...but I'll give a hint...if only I could think of one...or have I already thrown you all a "bone"?

It's been a great 6-7 years here! Great thanks to everyone who kept this forum running and such a great place to connect with people. I haven't made the switch to the discord yet, I've been dithering (mostly because I'm trying to reduce my digital footprint recently and can't decide if I want to add another site). But if I don't see you over there, it's been a great pleasure. Farewell, farewell, and flights of angels! Or pigeons, or sparrows, or whatever :)

Yes and no.  For a decade, I had every Exclusive they released, still have them all, mint and sealed, but having recovered from the nineties and noughties, Lego got brave and released larger numbers of large Exclusives and charged a lot more money for them too.  I simply couldn't keep up.  Money was of course a factor, but my biggest issue was space.  When I ran out of space, I simply stopped buying.  I went from spending possibly £5k a year (after Friends 30% discount) to around £1k retail, securing the annual Modular, Winter Village and Technic flagship.  I used to buy each UCS set.  Had them all, but the when they started to rerelease them, I thought, "Enough is enough.  This is stupid."

Given its ridiculous value today, my wife is desperate for me to sell my collection.  I was tidying a different room a couple of weeks ago and stumbled across a box of three SW CW sets.  I only bought them because they were being given away at JL, but with the minifigure market going the way it has, it's turned the sets I have from £100 a piece to £400.  Maybe my wife has a point!

What I will miss most of all is the friendliness of the forum and virtual friendships I made from it.  @Huw may well have started it, but the forum just seemed to attract a good bunch of people.  I may have missed, but where will BS members now be hanging out?

Sounds like a similar situation to a lot of us.
Lego has become less special for me as they began to focus more on AFOL’s with larger and higher frequency of sets released across the year.

BS had a knack for attracting a good crowd of like minded people and I have also enjoyed the friendships I’ve made over the years.

The forum has now moved over to Discord and is going well based on feedback so far.
I won’t be migrating over though as I feel this is a natural exit from Lego social media for me. 

I will always have Lego in my life in some form and I will always miss the BS forum but this is now an opportunity to move in a new direction.

Just want to say thank you to Huw and the mods but also to each and every one of you that made Brickset Forum such a special, friendly community. It was a place where we could find out round the globe information up to the minute about our hobby, events, deals and share and help each other.

Pretty spectacular and so much fun, help and friendship was found here. Thank you, everyone.
