Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Central Highlands, (Red River Delta) Hill Tribes Hmong mountain peoples circa 1800s and later musket with an octagonal barrel, finely kept stock, and characteristic primitive lock with old Monkey talisman twine (talisman not present). An excellent example of an early variation. According to the National Museum of the United States Air Force article 579603 available online, it states (The Hmong tribes make up roughly 50 languages and ethnic groups, prior to the Vietnam war in the 1960s the CIA approached the Hmong peoples and recruited them to assist in rescue of downed pilots and injured solders. At the wars end in 1975 the Hmong peoples were attacked by the Communist party and Viet Cong supporters with many being tortured, killed, and sent to labor camps. However many survived and escaped to refugee camps in Thailand and a large group eventually resettled to the United States. Size 49 1/2" L, barrel 43 1/2" L, 1/2" bore. Condition: Fine condition with some bands missing to barrel and stock. Provenance: Southern California Arms Collector

By participating in this auction bidders agree that all lots are sold as is without any warrants or representations with respect to the lots. The auctioneer retains the right to reject any bid and to withdraw or pass any lot at his or her absolute discretion. When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
