It's the only school in Lone Star, Texas. Lone Star Elementary will shut down at the end of the year. Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD officials say the closure will save the district more than $300,000 a year. Currently, there are 142 students attending Lone Star Elementary and district officials say it was not cost effective to keep the school open. In the fall, Lone Star students will go to school in Daingerfield. They will either go to West Elementary, which is Pre-K through 2nd or South Elementary, which is 3rd through 5th. Superintendent Pat Adams says through attrition, teachers and staff should find positions at the two Daingerfield elementary schools.
