A FEMALE VETERAN vs ELECTRICAL SET UPS… I WIN!!!

I purchased my new LG 4K Blu-Ray Player less than 3 weeks ago and IT IS EXACTLY the type of 3D Blue-Ray Disc/CD Playback/DVD, and Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player I NEEDED! The set up was so REMARKABLY EASY! I actually have not touched my FireTV Stick since this purchase… I LOVE WATCHING MY FAVORITE DVDs ALL OVER AGAIN!! I want a second one for my bedroom! ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME! GREAT JOB LG… LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Amazing Blu-Ray Player, however has some flaws

I love the player, love the quality of it however there are some flaws I want to point out, first there’s no wifi built in and even if you connect it through the ethernet, it’s of no use because there’s not any use of internet that this player allows, it’s only there to update your firmware and even when you do connect it, it says there are no updates. I think LG should update its firmware, it’s about time.
Second, the subtitle options are very bad or limited. they don’t let you change the size or the font of the subtitles, those tabs are greyed out for me so i’m stuck with large subtitles that obstruct my viewing and ruin the whole movie watching experience for me. I wish there was a fix for this.
Other than that, all else is perfect!

Q: Is this model region free? I mean, does this play Blu Ray discs and DVDs from regions other than the US?

A: There is a lot of misconception and misinformation about 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Players being region-free. The LG 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc™ Player, Model # UBK80 is not region-free, but for some reason, manufacturers have decided not to code 4K discs by region. In other words, if you have a 4K movie title, it should play in any 4K player, regardless of what country the disc came from. However, this is only true for 4K discs. Any other disc such as a non-4K Blu-ray or DVD is not region-free. DVD discs are still coded for region 1 in the U.S., Canada, and in U.S. territories and this player will only play DVDs that are coded for region 1...^Ivan

Q: I've had this unit little over a yr. Works fine, I like it. It never came with what I call a tech manual to explain the features. I mostly play from ex. hds thru ubs. While playing vid, I click on info/menu and there's a box with 3D in it. How do I use it

A: The LG 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc™ Player, Model # UBK80 can play Blu-ray 3D discs which contain separate views for the left and right eyes. In order to playback Blu-ray 3D title in stereoscopic 3D mode, you need to: • Check your TV is 3D capable and has HDMI input(s). • Wear 3D glasses to enjoy the 3D experience if it is necessary. • Check whether the BD-ROM title is the Blu-ray 3D disc or not • Connect an HDMI cable (Type A, High-Speed HDMI™ Cable) between the player’s HDMI output and TV’s HDMI input. Press the HOME icon on the remote control, and set the [3D Mode] option on the [Settings] menu to [On]. Refer to the owner’s manual of your 3D-ready TV for further instruction. You may need to adjust the display settings and focus on your TV’s setting for the improved 3D effect...^IFV

Q: I purchased an OLED 55 C8 a few years ago. I need to replace my blu-ray player. I would like to be able to play 4K movies in the future. I've heard that LG players are problematic with the OLED C8, specifically LG UBK90. What do you recommend?

A: We do not have any reported issues about the LG 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc™ Player with Dolby Vision®, Model # UBK90 with the LG C8PUA 4K HDR Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® - 55'' Class (54.6'' Diag), Model # UBK90. Model # UBK90 is fully compatible with Dolby Vision TVs, except for Sony Dolby Vision TVs, whose implementation of Dolby Vision required additional software upgrade to devices that connect over HDMI, such as streaming media players or UHD Blu-ray players. However, standard HDR10 content will play on those Sony TVs. Sony confirmed that it had finally started to roll out firmware updates in the U.S. and Canada for its X900F LCD TVs and A8F OLED TVs that enabled them to play the Dolby Vision HDR format in May 2018. The update enabled their 2018 models to play Dolby Vision titles via built-in video streaming apps, or over HDMI. On their older models, Dolby Vision over HDMI only worked if your source equipment had also received a necessary separate Sony compatibility firmware update...^IFV
