Larpercore or LARPcore is a very edgy and dark aesthetic from Discord and TikTok underground communities and "clans". The word LARP translates to Live-Action-Roleplaying. The followers of this aesthetic present themselves by using weird unicode characters in their usernames and along with that, they wear a "clan tag" which is basically a bunch of decorated initials so they can show everybody how cool they are. They also enjoy putting "titles" on their usernames, like "the 13th" to show everyone how many times they've been banned from the platform.

History[]

The aesthetic appears to have originated in March 2020, however its exact origins are unknown. It seemed to have formed when some individuals sharing common interests grouped with each other. The most well-known individuals who started the uprising of this hatred was Lisa Gaming Roblox and G*psy Crusader.

Communities[]

The types of communities within Larpercore vary depending on the platform. On YouTube, You may find more Anti-Gacha communities compared to TikTok where Anti-Furry communities are more rampant. However, They all come together on the same platform, Discord.

Some well known LARPercore communities include, The UTubeTrollPolice, The Anti Fandom Front, The Foodists, The Angel Of Spades, Smolcord, The Clovers, The People's Republic Of Untitled, The UKK, GETO/GEC, RXS, XP, ANUBIS, and so much more. These servers get taken down easily and are easy to find through Disboard tags such as "anti", "raid", or most common, "LARP".

Attitude[]

The LARPcore aesthetic also includes memes involving anything dark, skeletons, Trollge, the military or some edgy show or movie from the early 2000s like American Psycho or Better Call Saul. Many participants in this aesthetic also happen to enjoy anime, furry art, and are even closeted gay people themselves (some of who are willing to deny such a belief). They are generally politically incorrect, but they often enjoy pretending to be the military (espescially on platforms such as Discord where roles such as "Warden", "Private" and "Soldier" are frequently used; it's even encouraged that you screenshot your server lists and friends lists as well to be verified in their servers). Many of them also play Roblox shooter games. Larpercore is also inspired by internet culture (mainly coming from Discord, 4chan, and/or Reddit); meanwhile, the more feminine side of the aesthetic is rooted in femcel and femboy internet culture and anime. The aesthetic itself mainly consists of men. If a woman, trans man or non-binary individual tries to join in and take part, they immediately get doxxed the majority of the time.

Another trait that makes Larpercore what it is has to be making fun of people's deaths. Such famous "icons" within this community include George Floyd, Ronnie Mcnutt, Shuaib Aslam, Rorochan_1999, Audrey Hale and so much more. They express this through saying phrases like:

  • "That was breathtaking" - A reference to George Floyd's death.
  • "That was mind-blowing" - A reference to Ronnie Mcnutt's death.
  • "Jordan, are you recording, Jordan?" - A quote from Shuaib Aslam.

These deceased individuals are even edited into "memes", in which they spread to other servers alike in this aesthetic. These memes primarily consist of creating gaming accounts for them, Friday Night Funkin' mods reenacting their deaths, creating songs about them, videos of them "smoking" their ashes, editing their deaths into edgy compilations, etc.

Terminology[]

Here is a short brief list of how to defy each Larpercore word:

  • Larp - Noun, Used to describe a clan in a vague way. EX: "That's a Discord LARP clan."
  • Larped - Verb. Used to describe a past-tense action one committed that broke their "rules." EX: "He larped to Undertale a few years ago."
  • Larper - Those who follow this aesthetic use the word Larper as an insult to other people who don't follow this aesthetic. The word can be translated to "R*tard" (Depending on the context).
  • Larpist - same definition as larper, but used mostly when referring to a woman in the community.
  • Larping - Verb. Used to describe a constant action. Present or past-tense. EX: There is a TikToker reportedly pretending to have ADHD; Someone who follows the Larpercore aesthetic would then say "She's literally larping with ADHD." Present tense with a noun would be changed to: "She's larping on TikTok." or "She's larping to her friends about anime." What would be defied as a Larp in this context varies on the person's dislikes.
  • Tox/Toxxing - An act of which one sends a very explicit image (extreme gore/dead bodies/CP/mix of both; shock imagery in general) to someone NOT in the community in the hopes that their account will be banned.
  • Raid/Raiding - The act of spamming a Discord server chats or DMs, YouTube and/or TikTok comment sections. Done with the intent to annoy the person.
  • Nuke/Nuking: - An act of when someone who follows the Larpercore lifestyle gets the Admin role in a Discord server and destroys it by deleting channels, banning members or even changing the server icon. This can either be done manually or with a bot that has stolen code from Github and re-pasted into the Glitch website.
  • Kek Used as a substitute for LOL or ROFL.
