It has come to our attention, Shueisha has been falsely misrepresented by an individual sending copyright and removal requests on Twitter and other social media platforms. Shueisha is currently consulting with the various platforms to investigate what measures can be taken to address this issue.

Matsuki Tatsuya, the writer of Act-Age was arrested on August 8, 2020.

The editorial department takes this situation very seriously, and after confirming the matter and discussing it with Shiro Usazaki Sensei, the artist for the series, we have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to continue with its serialization. The chapter that is in combined issue 36/37 of Weekly Shonen Jump will be the final chapter.

It is extremely unfortunate to have to end a series that has received so much support from so many readers in this way. However, this decision was made because of the nature of the incident, and because Weekly Shonen Jump recognizes the weight of its social responsibility.

We offer our deepest regrets and apologies to our readers. This is a difficult time for Usazaki Sensei, but the editorial department offers Usazaki Sensei our support and encouragement for future works.

Information about graphic novel volumes and related publications and events will be announced as they are decided.

As of April 8, 2020, a member of the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department in their 40s is suspected of having contracted the novel coronavirus. This person has not attended work since they first developed a fever on April 2. They subsequently sought medical attention and are currently at home waiting for the results of a PCR test. This person does not have direct contact with the mangaka as part of their duties.

As of April 6, Shueisha has implemented a company-wide policy of primarily working from home in order to stop the spread of the virus, but in consideration of the risk posed to our mangaka and any related parties, we have decided to temporarily suspend operations across the entirety of the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department.

We have therefore also made the decision to delay the release of Weekly Shonen Jump, Issue 21 (scheduled for release on April 20 in Japan) by one week, and plan to release it on April 27 renumbered as combined Issue 21-22.

As such, chapters from Weekly Shonen Jump, Issue 21 scheduled for release in English at Manga Plus will also be delayed by one week.

Weekly Shonen Jump, Issue 20, will go on sale on April 13 as scheduled, and chapters from this issue will also be released online as scheduled.

We sincerely apologize to our loyal readers who look forward to reading the issues on a weekly basis for any confusion or concern this matter has created. Given the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, our top priority is ensuring the health and safety of our mangaka and any related parties as we do our utmost to support them as they continue to work their hardest in the hope of brightening the days of readers across the world through manga. We appreciate your understanding at this time.

The character Maruta Shiga, who appeared in My Hero Academia chapter 259 (Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 10, February 3, 2020), has been renamed to Kyudai Garaki. The “Shiga” in the original name was based on an already established character named Shigaraki and “Maruta” (kanji: round + fat) reflected the appearance of the character in question. No other references were intended. However, the character’s role as the doctor of an evil organization, combined with his name, ended up being hurtful to overseas readers by evoking memories of the tragic past. Because of this, we are making immediate changes to the digital versions. We are profoundly sorry for any pain this has caused. So that this kind of issue does not occur again going forward, we intend to devote our energies toward deepening our understanding of a variety of historical and cultural matters. By being more intimately aware of the thoughts and feelings of those from all walks of life, we will deliver manga that can be loved by all.
