sometimes when i try to login i become unable to login and i get a message saying "your account is locked". what is account lock? and whats the cause of it? and how long does it last?

Items that are labelled with nonsense identifiers like fdgdgj, contain nonsense or limited description like "sfsfs" or "good", or come from invalid addresses like asdasd@asd.asd, are often suspected to be bad content of various types. They may be removed on that basis. The uploading account may be locked, especially if it is an invalid email address.

Nonsense-labelled items that have been uploaded without having a proper collection chosen for them are additionally suspect, and the uploading account may be locked.

Items containing files in rar, zip, exe, or a concealed or nonfunctioning/invalid file format are additionally suspect, and the uploading account may be locked.

Items apparent to be commercial content, or file placements from piracy sites, are certainly suspect, and the account will certainly be locked. Fresh accounts by these uploaders may be locked even if they have not yet been used to upload bad content.

If the above describes your case, please do not create additional accounts to upload bad content. Please tell all file-sharing friends not to bother uploading content for which the rights may be unclear. That will save some trouble for everyone. Thanks!

Hello. Old member with new account. My old one (gagmanga2009) was locked for reasons that I take full responsibility for ("Items apparent to be commercial content, or file placements from piracy sites, are certainly suspect"). Of course, I apologize for this and will not make the same mistake again this time around. My question is this, is it possible that a locked account can be completely deleted, as in wiping the slate clean? If not, I totally understand. After all, with this new account, all my troubles are in the past. Thanks for taking the time to read this (and sorry if this isn't the appropriate place for this reply!)

so if there was such an account had been locked, any chance to be unlocked after a while?
or there is a chance for the uploader to get list of his "Contributions" to make sure that no-one else misused this account and uploaded bad content?

the one used to upload that item
the thing is i gave my account to some friends to make it easy for them to ftp upload some stuff,
now i want to delete all items that are bad and only keep those made by me - and not copy righted.
is it possible?

Hi Mohamed, thanks for the helpful information! So, others apparently used your old account to upload many bad pirated things. It is no longer a safe or trustworthy account, and should remain locked. Your own old items in that account may also not be safe, because more pirated material can be placed into them by other people. My advice: Do not share your new riddler.tk account information with other people. If you have already shared the info with others, reply here, because we should lock it too to be safe. (If so, you can later make an account with your own real email address, and do not share it.) Using your personal unshared account, you can send fresh, nonpirated items of your own without worry.

If your account is locked. Email info@archive.org and tell them your account name and ask them to unlock your account.
My account was locked and i asked them to unlock it and within a day they unlocked it for me, it was great!
