Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (knee) out vs. Patriots; Zack Martin, Tyler Biadasz questionable

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Dallas is not looking at an “IR situation” with Smith.

Cowboys starting left tackle Tyron Smith was ruled out for Sunday’s game against New England with a knee injury. It’s the second consecutive game Smith has missed. Smith said he’s feeling better but not enough to participate in Friday’s mock game.

“We’re probably going to be another week with Tyron,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said during his weekly radio interview on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “I don’t think we’re looking at an IR situation. He’ll continue to progress.”

One person who is not expected to replace Smith at the position, is Tyler Smith, who took over for an injured Tyron last season.

Tyler Smith said Thursday he hadn’t taken any snaps at left tackle in practices and when asked if he’s fibbing, indicated he wouldn’t lie to the media.

So veteran Chuma Edoga will get the start at left tackle for Tyron Smith.

The Cowboys’ offensive line missed three starters in last week’s loss to the Cardinals with injuries. Right tackle Zack Martin (ankle) and center Tyler Biadasz (hamstring) missed the game with Tyron Smith.

Martin and Biadasz were limited in Friday’s walkthrough practice and are listed as questionable on the injury report.

Without any setbacks, Martin and Biadasz are expected to play Sunday.

Edoga, who has practiced with an elbow injury, was a full participant in the walkthrough session on Friday.

Tight end Peyton Hendershot was added to the injury report on Friday with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable.

The Cowboys were hopeful to re-sign linebacker Devin Harper but he was claimed off waivers by the Bengals. Harper was cut to make room for center Brock Hoffman, who is expected to sign to the 53-man roster because he’s out of standard elevations from the practice squad. Hoffman started last week at center for Biadasz.
