Deputies searching for missing Franklin Co. mother and her 3 children- Lauren Cook (30), Benjamin (7), Hannah (5), Elijah (2)
'There is concern:' Frantic search underway for missing Franklin County woman and 3 children
<snipped>
Lauren Cook, 30, and her children, 7-year-old Benjamin, 5-year-old Hannah, and 2-year-old Elijah Cook, have been missing since September 4.
Investigators say her phone last pinged near Lexington on September 7, but there have been no pings since then. Cook's family contacted the Sheriff's Office after they couldn't get in touch with her and they said she missed a meeting with a family member.
The sheriff's office said that Cook's blue Chrysler van is also missing. They say this case is unusual and the Sheriff's Office just wants to ensure that Cook and her children are safe.

Huston says the case has gotten a lot of attention on social media.
"Anytime anything involves children they want to make sure the children are safe," Huston said. "We have gotten an outpouring of support for trying to locate this family and we would appreciate any additional shares of any news media coverage on this so that we can locate Lauren and her children."

I fear they’re in a body of water somewhere if the van is also missing and the phone is no longer pinging.
In the comments of the link you posted there's an interesting little comment from someone stating that she and the children are not missing, that it was a false report filed by her parents whom she does not want contact with. The commenter states that she and the children are safe and with the husband. Very interesting, who knows who this person is and what is true or not. Obviously it's not uncommon for adult children to not want to be in contact with their parents, but it is suspicious that the sheriff would release the report if that is indeed the case. If it is only the parents she does not want to speak to, the sheriff should be able to verify that easily and not release to National media that she and the children are missing. Will certainly be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Yet LE states that the husband is very concerned about the whereabouts of his kids.
I noticed the comment has been removed from the news article now.
Loved ones spent several days unsuccessfully trying to contact Cook before finally turning to the police for help.
There may be more context to this story; seems like it wasn't a big surprise she went missing for a few days. I mean after just a couple hours -- let alone days -- I would be going nuts and calling LE
It sounds like it was extended family who couldn't contact her. I know if my family didn't hear from me for a day or 2 they wouldn't be worried. What's really weird is the husband didn't report inside that 3 day period. My husband would have reported by the end of the day that I didn't return.
Why didn't the husband report them missing immediately? This reads like they were only reported missing after Lauren's family hadn't been in contact with her for a few days and they raised the alarm. Does the husband work out of town and just didn't know they weren't at home? I feel like the article is missing more information that would make this timeline a little bit clearer. Hoping everyone is reunited safe and sound soon.
A few new tidbits of information:
• Lauren Cook is married and both parents have custody
• Over a week anyone has had any contact
• Law enforcement states that they are not entirely clear where Lauren and the kids were last spotted- either in franklin county, New York or other area of the state. (reporting was unclear and confusing as to this point)
• Big community response to the case. Outpouring of support from community.
• Deputies are not able to share the full missing persons reports as it’s a part of an active case. The kids are now listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website.
Seems like she's going a bit far to be only "avoiding her Mormon parents". I mean unless her parents have history of trying to abduct the children or harm any of them in any way, I'd think a simple restraining order would do the job. If this turns out to be the case and these parents know resources are being spent to locate them while not missing, they should be responsible for paying for it. A phone call on video, a police visit, a interview...why isn't that happening? Until that happens, I as a parent as well as 1000s of other will not stop searching for the innocent child caught in the middle of this.
are her older kids in school? have they not been showing up? the commenter here keeps saying everything’s fine but if her kids aren’t showing up to school that’s reason for concern, unless they’re homeschooled. at least the oldest one legally has to be enrolled in school or homeschool

I’ve suspected the online “friend” blanketing social media and media article webpages is the husband for a minute now. Too determined to be a friend imo.
[removed]
IF this is factual, IMO a mom would take the unwell child, rather than uproot all the children from the comforts of home. In addition, her phone would ping & she'd possibly leave a trail of debit card transactions.
Oh, that’s interesting. And maybe that could explain the court dates. Ty for sharing.
Why don't i see any articles mentioning shes pregnant? She posted on the insta that she has 3 (soon to be 4) kids. He's said in his videos he's had a rough couple of weeks. But he's also had people out to do photo shoots for his weed farm. The vibes are weird.
He’s not concerned because he heard the kids in the background? He doesn’t even care enough for his kids to talk to them after her being gone for a considerable amount of time. Not buying it
@awkward_enchidna9946 been real quiet today hmmm
On Monday, the father of the three children, Jordan Cook, gave the following statement to ABC13:
Contrary to what has been reported, my wife and children are not 'missing'. I have no reason to be concerned about their safety or well-being. I have heard from my wife, and I'm sure she and my children are doing well. We ask that our family's privacy be respected at this time.
Exactly what a family annihilator would say....
