VShojo announced on August 8 that the agency’s first 3D live concert, Candy Pop Explosion, will be distributed on YouTube. This video was released at the same time as the announcement.

In this video, there is a scene in which “A plastic-wrapped candy hits the logo of the agency, and immediately after, the logo of the live event is displayed with a mushroom cloud in the background,” which some have pointed out looks like “A nuclear missile hitting the rising sun (Japan) and exploding, raising a mushroom cloud”.

August 9 (JST), the day this video was released, falls on Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Day, a day of mourning marking the 78th anniversary of the loss of more than 70,000 lives when the United States dropped the atomic bomb “Mark3 Fat Man” on Nagasaki.

In recent days, the issue of expressions concerning the atomic bombing has emerged as a problem, including the official “Barbie” movie’s allegedly inappropriate stance. The release of VShojo’s video may be pointed out one after another as inappropriate not only for the U.S., where positive historical perceptions of the atomic bombings are the norm, but also for a corporate agency with talent from a wide range of regions, including Japan.
