Ugh, Jesus freaks. Am I right?!?
Hi. I’m Mary. I’m just a girl who’s had a beautiful life! It was fun, but I was a wreck. And I got desperate. So I went on a search for the truth. The REAL truth, not just my preconceptions. And decades later, I found Jesus. Trust me, I looked down every other road, so I hope I can save you some time. Turns out, this gig ain’t half bad! (In fact it’s actually amazing.) I do have a few warnings/points though, if you’re even half curious about this awesome God I write about:
1) If you start reading the Bible, be fully prepared for your life to open up full on jumamji style. Your journey may be ugly. But you’re reading this so you’re in great company. (You’ll see.)
2) Don’t worry about what it looks like to “be a good Christian.” Just start by learning about and seeking Jesus. He’ll do the rest!
3) Don’t freak out about “the rules.” I promise you won’t turn into boring Aunt Milda who has no sense of humor and judges everyone lol. Most of us are actually pretty cool. I promise life will still be fun.
4) Church. Ugg. IKR. The thing is, it’s actually nothing like the sit/stand/kneel stuff.(sorry Catholics I love you) Explore until you find a church home. There’s a lifetime of stuff to learn and it helps to have mentors and friends. No, the building won’t burn down (I mean, probably not?.) Church is like acceptance central. Just go as you are
5) You can keep your brain. I used to believe that Christianity was for stupid or desperate people. Miracles and a resurrection? I mean COME ON, Honestly! And that thing about a virgin? …. but rest assured that science is actually glaring evidence for Christ…..and miracles
6) Lastly, get comfy. Kick off your shoes and grab a blanket… and enjoy. I hope you find peace living inside of this world. And I hope you see parts of yourself, as I pull my skeletons from the closet and let them dance. Shame is a tomb and we’re all human. Whether it’s abuse, trauma, addiction, mental illness, the devil, or just plain bad decisions…. I know how tiring it gets. I hope you can find some rest and some love in these pages. And I hope you relax inside a bit of communion as I expose the parts of me that don’t exactly scream Jesus. Yet He’s always been there. After a lifetime of disbelief and another year of internal warfare as I grew intimately with Him… I’m ready to be bold. Take my hand. Let me show you where I came from. Let me share with you who I found. All glory to God!.
