VTuber YuuRi (Independent) announced on July 19, 2023 (PST) that a report of defamation against him has been accepted by police and an investigation is underway for threats.

We would like to inform you that we have made some progress regarding the trolling and slander on Twitter (including hashtags, replies, and quoted RTs related to YuuRi) that has been continuing since the other day, as well as malicious acts directed at our work e-mail address. We would like to inform you that we have made some progress regarding the malicious behavior on Twitter and to our work e-mail address.
We have consulted with the police about the person who has been persistently sending YuuRi extreme slurs such as “D*e” and “H*ng yourself” along with grotesque images, and after submitting all the evidence, a criminal complaint has been accepted and an investigation will be conducted for the crime of intimidation.
The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division is currently underway and additional evidence will be submitted if the damage continues.In the event of an arrest for the crime of intimidation, a penalty of up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 300,000 yen will be imposed.
In addition, although we do not ostensibly disclose this information, we are working with our lawyers to take appropriate action regarding excessive slander and libel.
We will never tolerate malicious acts of slander or vandalism.
