Forum: forums Subject: The progressive web app black hole (Dailymotion, Instagram, AJAX comments)

More and more websites (e.g. Dailymotion, Instagram, Disqus) are only available as progressive web applications, the thing that is historically crippling the Wayback Machine.

Such web applications are unfortunately inaccessible to the Wayback Machine.

In addition, the Wayback Machine is unable to capture AJAX-loaded comments and bottomless websites.

There are some third-party websites that bypass that (e.g. PicPanzee for Instagram), but most people don't know them.

I strongly recommend the Wayback Machine to adapt to these new web standards, to avoid missing out on historical information.

I know, these progressive web-app websites are a big headache to the Wayback Machine (next to CloudFlare's three floating dots), but there has to be a solution for it. I am sure it is somehow possible.

Therefore, I encourage the software engineers at the Wayback Machine to make it PWA-compatible.
