Maruzen Yushodo will jointly plan "Taiwan Library Training 2023" from December 6th (Wednesday) to 9th (Saturday), 2023 with the Library Exhibition Steering Committee. This is a great opportunity to visit Taiwan's university libraries, national libraries, and public libraries for 3 nights and 4 days, interact with local library staff, and explore the latest developments in the Taiwanese library world. Please join us for the fieldwork-type overseas library training, which will resume for the first time in four years.

Event details

Maruzen Yushodo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo / Representative: Masaya Yano, Representative Director / hereinafter referred to as Maruzen Yushodo) is a joint project with the Library Comprehensive Exhibition Steering Committee, as part of the library support service business. Since 2013, we have been providing fieldwork-type training that visits overseas libraries and related institutions. So far, we have visited nearly 100 libraries, including university libraries, public, specialized, corporate, and monastery libraries, and more than 200 people have participated, marking our 10th anniversary this year.

This time, we will resume the project to travel overseas for the first time in four years after the corona disaster.

This year, the training will be held in "Taiwan". In addition to the university library, we plan to visit the Taoyuan City Library New General Building, which just opened in 2022, and the Presidential Library of Chiang Ching-kuo. In addition, you will be given a special tour of the preparation room of the National Railway Museum, which is scheduled to open in a few years. At each destination, we coordinate backyard tours of libraries and meetings with local staff to provide valuable experiences unique to this training.

Training points:

◆Update library information in Taiwan
It has been four years since the last training in Taiwan (December 2019). It is said that Taiwan has succeeded in suppressing the virus during the COVID-19 crisis. You will learn through visiting the library and interacting with local staff. In addition, they will visit the Taoyuan Municipal Library New General Building and the Presidential Library, which opened in 2022, as the latest examples of Taiwanese libraries.

A special tour of the preparation room of the National Railway Museum, which is about to open in a few years
Currently, preparations are underway for the opening of the National Railway Museum Preparatory Room. We will introduce the museum under construction and the concept of the museum that is scheduled to be established.

◆ Accompanied by an interpreter
In this training, meetings with local staff and backyard tours are also planned, but an interpreter will accompany these trips, so you can participate with peace of mind.

◆Training follow-up
We will support you to deepen your learning in this training by holding preliminary briefings, providing information about the library you are visiting, and following up after the training.

When conducting training

The training may be canceled due to unavoidable reasons such as the international situation or the situation at the planned travel destination.

How to apply

・Please fill out the application form, attach your passport photo, and submit it to I W A Tour Co., Ltd. (Mr. Takahashi) by e-mail or fax.
・Meeting on the day will be early in the morning. If you need a domestic flight from the nearest airport to Haneda Airport and an overnight stay before/after, please ask a travel agency.
・Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as this is a recruitment project. Please apply as soon as possible.
