Friday June 23rd at about 7am, I was beaten and tasered by two deputies from the Oconee County South Carolina Sheriffs department. They were sent by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Agent who WITNESSED NOTHING. His WIFE told him a story so here is what the Brethren do.

Where was I? At my house being aggressively questioned about "dog drool". Yea... pissed me off too. They brought an Oconee County Animal Control Officer to write me tickets based on hearsay. The crime that got me beat up and tasered and jailed for most of the day? POSSIBLE dog at large, as no one in my yard was an eyewitness to anything. Just so we are all on the same page. I am disabled. The weight limit I can manipulate is no more than 50 pounds by doctors order. I am missing my gallbladder and 38 cm of my large intestine due to everyone's favorite cancer. I live alone with two dogs, who are very kind creatures that my neighbors would attest to. I'm very hurt and have been beat by cops in my own yard. I demand an INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER. THIS IS AN EXCESSIVE USE OF FORCE BEATING AN OLD DISABLED MAN IN HIS OWN YARD OVER "Dog at Large" allegations... with the alleged dog watching and not being violent as I'm being beat by YOUR PIGS THAT I FVCKIN PAY FOR. Fvck all you pricks and anyone else that beats the slaves with no cause.

Acid Mammoth is a doom/stoner metal band from Athens, Greece, with two of their four members being a father/son guitarist duo. I had never even heard of this band before YouTube put this album in my recommendations today - and, quite frankly, I am not very familiar with a lot of European metal outside of the obvious thrash and death metal scenes - but I am very glad that I decided to give it a shot, because this was a very enjoyable experience.

It pretty much goes without saying that there is a massive amount of Black Sabbath influence on this record - that comes with the territory considering Sabbath pioneered the genre decades ago. The Babalis duo are not afraid to pound the listener with one hulking, fuzzy, slow-paced riff after another, and while for the most part the band does not fluctuate all too much in terms of tempo, they are able to keep things mostly fresh and not overly travel on charted waters. While there are some riffs that could be pulled straight from a Sabbath record or a Matt Pike-penned song (i.e. "Jack the Riffer"), the band keeps it interesting through atmosphere, earworm melodic phrases, and some epic lead passages. The band sprinkles in some psychedelic elements into some of the songwriting, with standout track "Tree of Woe" being a good example -- parts of songs almost are "trance-like" regarding the ambiance they create.

The drum performance fits the songs perfectly, not particularly flashy or technical but flashiness would pretty much kill any sort of ambiance in these doomy, lurching tracks. The mixing of the drums is probably the worst part of the production - the kick drum sounds okay, but the rest of the kit is buried under the wall of distorted guitars and bass, and sounds a bit thin. I was happy with the bass performance on this album; it, for the most part, was not flashy either and created a solid rhythm section with the drums in which the guitars could do their thing, but when the bass got its own time in the spotlight, it was a nice touch to the songs. The tone of the bass is great, distorted and chunky but retaining a degree of clarity that can sometimes get lost in overly fuzzy mixes.

The vocals are really interesting, at times sounding almost uncannily like Ozzy Osbourne, while also occasionally reminding me of Al Cisneros from Sleep in terms of timbre and delivery. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrical content while listening, but after reading the lyrics, I am largely unimpressed, as just seems to be pretty standard drudgery about witchcraft and Satan. This is not a massive detractor but it didn't really serve as a major benefactor, either. The vocals can also be washed under the waves of fuzz and distortion at times, though not quite to the extent of the drums. Lastly, the guitars came through with some really nice riffs, especially when they move up to higher registers. The leads are scarce but are more aimed at adding a grandiose sense of atmosphere to the songs instead of shredding or displaying technical wizardry. The tone is great for this kind of music - warm, fuzzy, overdriven as hell - and the guitars are upfront in the mix (a little bit too upfront).

This record is only 5 songs with a runtime of around 35 minutes, but honestly it left me pretty satiated, not really wanting anymore or less material as a general statement. While I do love "Tree of Woe" and its catchy, titanic riffs, the song would be just as good if the last two minutes were cut; "Tusks of Doom" and "Jack the Riffer" were very solid songs but didn't have the same impression on me as the songs that bookended them, and they sounded a little too cliche for me to fully appreciate them. The title track "Under Acid Hoof" is by far the best track on the record and was a phenomenal way to end the album, with the most creative and eclectic ideas presented here by Acid Mammoth. This band really sounds like they have cemented "their" sound, and while there are probably more "unique" stoner/doom bands out there, I am happy with this release and excited to see what they have in store for us in the next few years.

"Mama Told Me Not to Come", also written as "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", is a song by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman written for Eric Burdon's first solo album in 1966. Three Dog Night's 1970 cover topped the US pop singles chart. Tom Jones and Stereophonics' version also reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000.

Newman says that the song was inspired by his own lighthearted reflection on the Los Angeles music scene of the late 1960s. As with most Newman songs, he assumes a character; in this song the narrator is a sheltered and extraordinarily straitlaced young man, who recounts what is presumably his first "wild" party in the big city, is shocked and appalled by marijuana smoking, whiskey drinking, and loud music, and – in the chorus of the song – recalls that his "Mama told [him] not to come".

The first recording of "Mama Told Me Not to Come" was cut by Eric Burdon & The Animals. A scheduled single-release of September 1966 was withdrawn, but the song was eventually included on their 1967 album Eric Is Here.

Newman's own turn at his song was released on the 1970 album 12 Songs, and was characterized by Newman's mid-tempo piano accompaniment, as well as Ry Cooder's slide guitar part, both of which give the song the feel of a bluesy Ray Charles-style rhythm and blues number.

Also in 1970, Three Dog Night released a longer, rock 'n roll and funk-inspired version (titled "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)") on It Ain't Easy, featuring Cory Wells singing lead in an almost humorous vocal style, Jimmy Greenspoon playing a Wurlitzer electronic piano, Michael Allsup playing guitar, and Donna Summer on backing vocals, though uncredited.

Billboard ranked the record as the No. 11 song of 1970. The single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on July 14, 1970, the same day that It Ain't Easy was certified gold. It was also the number-one song on the premiere broadcast of American Top 40 with Casey Kasem on July 4, 1970.

Cash Box suggested that this song could "do for Randy Newman what the Fifth Dimension did for Laura Nyro" since Three Dog Night is "the first to apply muscle to his material."

Tom Jones and Stereophonics covered the song for Jones' 34th album, Reload, in 1999. It was released as a single on March 6, 2000, and reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 7 in Iceland, No. 11 in Ireland and No. 45 in New Zealand. This version was produced by Steve Bush and Marshall Bird (also known as "Bird & Bush"). Stereophonics lead singer Kelly Jones (no relation and no relation) shared the lead vocals with Jones. The video featured an appearance by Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.

Three Dog Night's version is used to great effect in the 1997 Paul Thomas Anderson film Boogie Nights, playing as Eddie Adams first arrives at Jack Horner's home after Eddie's fight with his mother.

It would also later appear in Terry Gilliam's 1998 movie adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's 1972 gonzo novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Due to the song's upbeat, paranoid mood, it was used for the scene of obsessively drug-using protagonists Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo escaping a "District Attorneys convention on narcotics and dangerous drugs". It also appears as the last song in the movie's G-rated trailer, mainly accompanying Duke's wild car ride to have Dr. Gonzo catch a plane in time, a scene where in the R-rated trailer and in the actual film, Viva Las Vegas by Dead Kennedys was used instead.
