Professor Kolorado is an adventure-loving, bold Koopa Troopa explorer and archaeologist in Paper Mario. A former student of Professor Frankly, Kolorado lives in Koopa Village, but is rarely home, preferring to go out on quests for ancient artifacts, to the displeasure of his wife. He is the idol of his neighbor Kooper, who eventually becomes his assistant at the end of Paper Mario. Kolorado is a parody of Indiana Jones, as they are both named after an American state and they are both legendary archaeologists. Both wear similar outfits and go on quests for unique artifacts, and Kolorado is also chased by a Spiny Tromp similar to the boulder scene from the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. ( more...)

- A brand new course to the Mario Kart series set in Rome, Italy named Rome Avanti was announced for Mario Kart Tour on the official Mario Kart Tour Twitter page on June 22, 2023.
- During the Nintendo Direct presentation broadcast on June 21, 2023, several Super Mario-related titles were announced for the Nintendo Switch: namely, remakes of Super Mario RPG and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon; a currently untitled game starring Princess Peach; WarioWare: Move It!; and Super Mario Bros. Wonder (pictured). Other headlines in the presentation included the second DLC of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (announced to release on the same day as the presentation) and Wave 5 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass (which introduces the course Squeaky Clean Sprint alongside playable characters Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek).
- During the Ubisoft Forward presentation on June 12, 2023, new footage for DLC 2: The Last Spark Hunter and DLC 3 featuring Rayman in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was shown.
- Super Mario Advance, Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 were released on Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online on May 26, 2023.
