Nord was an approximately 16 year old male Russian Transient killer whale who lived at the Moskvarium in Moscow, Russia. He was the largest killer whale at the facility. He was captured in the Gulf of Sakhalin in Russia, on August 13th, 2013. Nord passed away on June 23rd, 2023 after suffering from an acute peptic ulcer.
Behavioral Incidents[]
In September 2015, a video was captured of the three in Moscow thrashing their tails at trainers after one of the trainers fell into the water on top of one of the orcas. It does not seem to be a deliberate attack but it shows how quickly a situation can get out of control.
