I freely admit that I tend to give fictional mothers the benefit of the doubt for reasons, and I can tell Yayoi clearly didn't do great at being a mom, probably because all of the things you mentioned (I think becoming a mother at 19 played a part too). I still suspect she was probably a better influence than Sohei, not that that's a high bar to clear.
its not bad to wanna give characters the benefit of the doubt sometimes, esp when it comes to a complicated thing like parenting (and esp when fandom tends to be harder on female characters than probably actually warranted) ! yayoi becoming a mom definitely played a factor in how she grew up (even if 19 is considered an adult, that's still an incredibly young age Period, let alone one to be a mother- and to be a yakuza mother at that and everything that comes with being involved in the yakuza)
