I don't think the intention here is to depict the distillation of alcohol, I think it's a steam distillation setup for the extraction of essential oils ...

Yes, you are probably right. And hence the quizz: distillation of alcohol requires a different equipment than the distillation of essential oils (and it took the human race 1,000 years or so to figure that difference).
