This should just be a civil matter with a possible suit from the asshat corporation.
It should absolutely not be a crime.
It should absolutely not be a crime.
Something about how when he was arrested, owning child porn wasn't something that would really send you to jail at the time, just a fine.Meanwhile, Rurouni Kenshin's author is walking free. Nice priorities there, Japan.
Actually you know what, I really WISH VNs were really so simple. I just want to READ a visual novel and NOT play them aka having options to change the story but just press space, space and space to forward the lines. :(Hahaha yeah, if you answer a message or not etc....there were so many little things in the game beside just reading. Loved it so much /o/
Ahhh it will dépend for me. I loved Stein gate. But it's kinda true that sometimes i just want to read like higurashi , umineko etc....Actually you know what, I really WISH VNs were really so simple. I just want to READ a visual novel and NOT play them aka having options to change the story but just press space, space and space to forward the lines. :(
yeah, nintendo ironically is one of the best japanese publishers about streaming nowadays and people here are acting we are still in 2015I like how in a thread about Kadokawa/From, more posts are just trolling Nintendo. A good example of the temperature around this place these days.
Yet some in this thread still managed it. I can't, lol
So, you want Kinetic Novels?Actually you know what, I really WISH VNs were really so simple. I just want to READ a visual novel and NOT play them aka having options to change the story but just press space, space and space to forward the lines. :(
I guess..?So, you want Kinetic Novels?
That's basically the name for those, you just read and read with no options, you get the same VN style of art and sound to accompany the story too.
It has it's fans, but also haters who will downvote sometimes on places like Steam for not being "games!" as it's really just clicking and reading a story and some do want options and routes.
I agree it should be only a civil suit, but Japanese law tends to crack down hard on the wrong things. This should just be a civil matter with a possible suit from the asshat corporation.
It should absolutely not be a crime.
I mean it's a visual novel, dialogue and story is all it has. By uploading the whole thing you're giving away the game for free for everyone.
Same, that’d be the logical course of action.would have thought trying to demonetise the videos would have been the first step, going straight to arresting seems pretty severe
This is wrong. Something needs to be done about this. No one, and I mean NO ONE should be jailed for this. It's fucking stupid. STUPID!
" Yoshida was also found to have uploaded videos of the "Steins;Gate" anime adaptation and "Spy x Family" anime"
I don't know the legal details, but there are literally ads on TV about how the above is illegal, ending with one of the characters saying "you'll get caught".
But gaming always operated in a grey-zone as most publishers accept that gaming videos work as a kind of advertisement for their game.
Note that "it's the law" isn't exactly a defense of a company overstepping given that many companies exploit laws and there are a metric fuckton of incredibly stupid outdated laws. He's been violating the Copyright Act for over 4 years, which includes illegally uploading anime content. Most Japanese studios in the entertainment industry set strict guidelines on how much and what elements of their games content creators are allowed to share/upload, including the extent to which they can be monetized. It might sound stupid to you, but these companies put these guidelines in place to prevent spoilers and content creators profiting from it unethically. Furthermore, it's the fucking law dude, the guy knew he was breaking the law, but continued to do so. There is nothing stupid about this at all.
Please do defend this. Thanks for the context.I mean it's a visual novel, dialogue and story is all it has. By uploading the whole thing you're giving away the game for free for everyone.
It’s an infringement of copyright any way you put it, question is wether it’s fair use, which hinges on application of parody, education and how much commercial damage you’re doing. This is not pertaining to Japan though. From what i understand, people can put gameplay videos on youtube without really any consequence mostly because of a general good faith agreement on all parts, right? If someone were brought to court over the same thing on the US, are there laws defining this?
