I guess you mean 50% on profit in this case? Even then 1-2% on revenue is pretty low, unless they have really bad profit margins.
It really depends on the funding and the contract length. If a talent isnt able to be funded in any other way and has no capacity to handle the upfront costs to buy the stuff they need, then a bad deal in the short term is better than no deals at all.
