it’s pretty wild how much bluesky and mastodon are literally like if you broke up twitter into its component parts.
mastodon is all the thoughtful discourse and bluesky is all the shitposting and angry people.
i dont even mean this as a slight against bluesky, i cant wait till they open the protocol so i can follow people there from ivory in some magical unified timeline.
it’s just weird!
@helvetica I’m still trying to figure out what happens to the newswire component of Twitter, because Mastodon’s not really built for it and Bluesky’s beta is too locked-down for a test case yet.

@helvetica Exactly! I’m liking both, for different reasons.
@helvetica absolutely. I still sort of think of them as physical analogies Stoll: mastodon is all my tech and gaming friends, and bluesky is…well like you said emerging else. I’m stoked for the glory days of a unified timeline, but I do have some hope different tailored algorithms that almost function like lists.
@helvetica protocol is already opened, there's already third party clients for it and everything. The main issue would be to somehow make a Mastodon/ActivityPub<>ATProto bridge 
@helvetica I appreciate Mastodon for pioneering (been on it forever) but my Bluesky timeline is remarkably positive where Mastodon is so much infighting
