Xiaomi Poco F3

The Poco F3 should have supported 2160p@60fps. I have a suspicion that software is all that prevents it from filming at 2160p with smooth 60 frames per second.
How did I get this suspicion?
It is strange how the maximum pixel rate is higher at 1080p than at 2160p. From 2013 to 2017, the reverse was the case for Samsung flagship phones.
At 2160p, the framerate of the Poco F3 is up to 30fps. Nothing out of the ordinary. At 1080p, the Poco F3 can film at up to exotic 240fps, continuously. This means the pixel rate, the number of pixels per second, is up to twice as high at 1080p than it is at 2160p! So the limitation of 30 frames per second at 2160p is irrational.
On Samsung flagship phones from 2013 (Galaxy Note 3) to 2017 (Galaxy Note 8), the video frame rate at 2160p was 30fps and 1080p was 60fps. 1080p at 60fps are only half the number of pixels per second as 2160p at 30fps. Back then, I suspected their image sensors had an insufficient readout speed. However, if the image sensor of the Poco F3 can read sufficiently fast for continuous 1080p at 240fps, it should easily be capable of 2160p at 60fps, since the resolution for 2160p is there.
As a counter-example, what prevented the iPhone 6 from 2014 from recording in 2160p was its 3264×2448 image sensor. 2160p requires a width of 3840 pixels for a 16:9 aspect ratio. Any "4K filming app" that claimed to "unlock" that resolution on the iPhone 6 did upscale from a lower resolution, either 1080p or 1836p, if that was even supported by their camera API. Yet the iPhone 6 was ahead with its 720p at 240fps. At that time, Android smartphones maxed out at 720p@120fps, even though they had 2160p first, in 2013.
2160p@30fps = 248832000 pixels per second.
1080p@60fps = 124416000 pixels per second.
1080p@240fps = 497664000 pixels per second. Same as 2160p@60fps.

I've had an F3 Global for about a year now and have recently installed crDroid 9.3 custom rom on it. Best decision I made as it feels like a brand new device now. Highly recommend if you own an F3, have some experience with roms and can't afford a new phone any time soon.

Anyone that had the battery replaced. Do you face any problems afterward? Did you go to the official Xiaomi centre or did you do it by yourself? I need to know cause I plan to buy a second hand one and just in case it needed a battery replacement.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2023Is it recommended to update to MIUI14?My F3 was working beautifully until I updated OTA with Miui 14. Now it is extremely laggy. Unlock sound plays long after the phone is unlocked, OS is killing apps in the background. I would've stayed on 13 if I had known this was going to degrade the phone.

Got the 6/128Gb variant for the early bird price in April 2021 as my third phone. I upgraded from a 4/64Gb Galaxy A7 (2018). It is still my daily driver as of writing this comment and will prob be for about 2 more years.
So far I am really happy with it. The 120hz screen combined with the SD870 make it really smooth and easy to use even when playing some more demanding games.
The camera is alright in good lighting conditions but is not suited for low light. I especially like the Macro shots.
If you do not want to mess around with bloatware, disabling ads and a (sometimes) buggy OS I do not recommend it though.

Hi guys, for some days now my POCO F3 5G is not receiving calls(seems to be non available to the dialer) and cannot call anyone, it just keeps line open but not really calling. The SIM card is checked and replaced and it also works on other devices. I tried other SIM cards and still the same issue. I contacted XIAOMI support and they cant help 'cause the phone originates from another region so they take no responsibility. I searched for repair shops, they told me the region (Philippines) is different than where i am (Greece) and the problem is with antennas compatibility with GR networks. They did settings and stuff but pointless. Any ideas guys? Anyone with any idea or similar issues fixed?
