This is very different in the Netherlands and the people you're with. I plainly share my emotions with confidence and never lost respect coz of it. The difference is that when you're uncertain over your emotions that's when you always lose respect. But when I just own my emotions nobody cares. You can even lower other people their respect by explaining that they can't share their emotions coz they'll are dependent on them.
