Energy saving technologies that can be put into practice immediately
In Egypt ,30% of energy use at home.In addition 70% use is consumed by electricity.Let's save energy at home.
Fossil fuels such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas were transformed from plants and animals hundreds of millions of years ago and are limited in quantity. Each of us can use resources more effectively by eliminating wasteful use. And reducing the use of fossil fuels also contributes in reducing greenhouse gases that are produced by burning fossil fuels and resulting in global warming. In particular, saving electricity at home plays a major role in reducing CO2 emissions, as it is one of the major electricity consumption sector.
The electricity bill increases in summer due to the use of air conditioners, and to keep the space air-conditioned at the low cost, the followings are instructions:
•Set the temperature at 25 degrees or more
-Set the temperature at 25 degrees Celsius or more and do not use air conditioner when the air temperature is appropriate.
• In some summer days, the fan is sufficient to cool the place's temperature.
•Close the doors and windows- Close the doors and windows to prevent air leakage and shade the room by closing the curtains before turning on the air conditioner.
• Take into account the use of the appropriate air conditioner for the space to be cooled.
• Turn off the air conditioner about 15 minutes before leaving the room.
•Clean air filters at least twice a year (after using summer and winter season) -Periodic maintenance of air conditioners by cleaning the air filter, in addition to making sure that all the moving parts in air conditioners operate properly resulting in efficient operation.
• Inspect the air conditioning system immediately by specialists in case you feel that it is not cooling properly.
• When purchasing an air conditioner, choose the most efficient device, the least consuming electricity, and this is identified through the energy efficiency label affixed to the device.
• If we follow the previous instruction, we can reduce certain amount of energy for sure.
Make sure that your refrigerator is working properly, as it is one of the most energy consuming appliance at your home.
•Do not open door unnecessarily and when opening it, close it quickly - Make sure a refrigerator door is closed and do not try to open it unnecessarily. When opening it, close it quickly.
- Use a water cooler to drink in summer to reduce the number of times you open a refrigerator.
•It is recommended to avoid putting hot food in a refrigerator before it cools. Cover liquids and wrap foods, and avoid putting hot food in a refrigerator before it cools.
•Don't overfill a refrigerator. - Make sure your refrigerator door seals are airtight. Arrange things inside a refrigerator so that the process of entering and removing foods from it can be easier and quicker to avoid releasing cold air and entering hot air into a refrigerator.
• The frost must be thawed from time to time so that the thickness of the frost does not exceed 1/4 inch.
• It is preferable that the freezer is completely full, and the voids are filled with ice cube bags.
• Make sure that the condenser at the back of the refrigerator is clean.
- When buying a refrigerator, it is recommended to choose the most efficient refrigerator, that is, the least consuming electricity, and this is identified/observed through the energy efficiency label fixed on a refrigerator.
-If we follow the instruction above, we can reduce certain amount of energy consumption.
The cost of lighting can be reduced even more than 50% depending on the case by following guidelines below:
•Turn off lights- Turn off the lights in unoccupied areas
• Take advantage of using the natural light during the day.
• Replacing ordinary bulbs with energy-saving (LED) bulbs.
• Avoid using the tungsten filament normal bulb, since 90% of the electricity consumed in the bulb is lost in the form of heat, causing the place to heat up.
• There is no wick in the built-in energy-saving bulb, so the place does not get warm.
