Anyone knows what this status means? Is it an offer or reject? TIA!

My status has been "Awaiting Decision" since a month. I don't think it means anything. I heard a rejection recently, but that was for MS. Still waiting to hear on MEng since it was a part of the same application. Good luck!

Same here. Literally been put into "awaiting" for almost a month and half, and no decision except one email from the director suggesting that I may be waitlisted (and yes I asked for a decision date.)

That means that the college/department is actively reviewing your application. You can expect a response within the next 3-7 days. Honestly from what I have read on here, the longer the better, that will indicate you likely got in. They will promptly let you know you got rejected. If you get an acceptance from the department, you will continue to be “awaiting decision” as it has been passed along to the dean/graduate college for final review. From the graduate college you would receive official admission.

Y’all need a reality check. UMass is an excellent university and very competitive. I get that some people are salty because they got rejected and think it’s beneath them, but it isn’t.

This fact that you got into a university that YOU think is more prestigious than UMass, but also got rejected from UMass, is not some super crazy weird thing. We all know graduate applications are a crap shoot. It depends on who is looking for very specific types of researchers or students, and whether or not you fit that profile. Maybe you fit the bill at Purdue or Tufts, but that doesn’t mean UMass needs to be drooling over you. You aren’t entitled to an offer from them just because you got into other good schools.

I am getting really sick of these #venting posts of people basically just talking about how it’s sOoOoo ridiculous they didn’t get in. And it’s not even just UMass, I’ve been seeing a lot of entitled people playing the blame game and having a little internet tantrum because they didn’t get in. Someone said, “make it make sense”. Lol idk what to tell you. It already makes sense. If you don’t personally understand it, that’s on you. 🙃

I truly do have empathy for those of us who were disappointed by this years admissions, but I will die on this hill. Can’t wait for all the comments saying, “Well ACKSHULLY”… nah bro. Sit down. Stop acting like you’re above a 160 year-old research university that has put out Nobel laureates and some of the most renowned scientists of the last century.

Eat a slice of humble pie. You’re not better than anyone. There are no safety schools. Even so, you’re gonna be okay. 😉
