White Conservatives Understand Racism Better Than White Liberals

That is why White Liberals are not good allies.

Last week, the British newssite Daily Express posted a tweet that read

King’s Frogmore move tipped to satisfy Britons as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘evicted from royal life’

In the replies, many White liberals responded by rejecting the idea that Brits want the Sussexes “kicked out” of the cottage.

Basically, the paper is saying that the royals understand most WHITE Brits hate Meghan (let’s be honest, White Brits don’t really hate the Sussexes. They hate Meghan alone. Before Harry married Meghan, he was the second most popular royal).

Returning to what I was saying… Daily Express basically says royals know most White Brits hate Meghan and that evicting her and her husband would endear the King to his White subjects.

But in the replies, White liberals are denying that their fellow White Brits hate Meghan, despite, poll after poll showing the contrary.

And this is just one example of White conservatives understanding racism better than White liberals.

White conservatives know most White people are racist. And they fashion their actions and policies based on that knowledge.

White conservatives know that you can get White people to support a bad policy if you frame it as a policy that harms Black people.

Royals in the UK are using the racism of White Brits to rehabilitate Prince Andrew’s reputation. White Brits would probably have been outraged if Prince Andrew was given a new residence. But the story is framed as the royals kicking out a Black woman from the palace, which makes it acceptable for White Brits to see Prince Andrew get a new place.

I actually admire how the royals are using the racism of White Brits for their own benefit. The royals now regularly leak stories that frame everything they do as an anti-Meghan action. This results in White Brits supporting actions they wouldn’t otherwise.

Like that time The Wales moved into a new home. The Wales action was framed as them moving into a quieter neighborhood, unlike the Sussexes who crave media attention. As a result, White Brits didn’t view the acquisition of a fourth home as an obscene luxury. Instead, they viewed it as anti-Meghan action and supported it wholeheartedly.

White British conservatives are not the only conservatives who understand racism better than their liberal counterparts. Here in America, we have White liberals denying the racism of their fellow Whites. White conservatives, on the other hand, are exploiting the racism of White people to pass so many laws damaging to White people.

White working-class people have been the largest supporters of Reaganism. They support laws that weaken union power. They support laws that destroyed the welfare system. They support all these harmful laws because they are framed as anti-Black laws.

For White liberals admitting that most White people are racist goes against their core value-their core value that most people are decent people. And White liberals are so married to this idea that they will deny poll after poll proving otherwise.

Most White people support cops who murder Black people. Most White people support racist politicians like Trump. Most White people supported welfare as a “hand up” when they were its main beneficiaries. But the moment Black people got access to the same welfare benefit, White people labeled it a “handout ” and turned against it.

But White liberals continue to deny reality. They continue to claim it is “economic anxiety” that is making White people support politicians like Trump. They continue to dismiss racism as just a different “cultural value”.

That is why White liberals are not really good allies. When someone refuses to admit how widespread racism is, they can’t be good allies. If you can’t admit the reality of racism, you are not a good ally.

Sometimes, it seems White liberals are more focused on convincing Black people that most White people are not racist than they are on fighting racism.
