A place where archery/bowhunting/crossbow enthusiasts can mingle and talk about their craft!
In the Tayal Tribal cup (Taiwan), Wulai took first place in the team event, first and second in individual, and first in elimination. Here Yuming A-von, our captain and bowyer, shows us how it's done.
May I ask why nobody is straddling the line?
Maybe it’s the rules are different over there but it looks like instead of straddling everyone’s hugging the line with their front foot
What type of bows are they and where can I find out more information on the bow and the competition. I've loved the posts about the Wulai archers!
Thanks! We use traditional Tayal bows made by Yuming, who learned how to make them from tribal elders. Archery was pretty well dead in Wulai until Yuming revived it.
I'm afraid most people in Taiwan really don't care that much about indigenous culture, and even less about archery. Most would be astonished to know that there are something like 150 indigenous archery teams around the island. Archery has revived among the aborigines only within the last ten years or so. But there's really very little information available, beyond what you see here.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your support!

Thanks! I contributed to the victory by not participating 😬
Been loving these posts. Very well tillered bow, compliments to the bowyer!
