This can't be true. DPR has been the favorite photography place for a whole generation of photographers.

P.S. From now on, I'll boycott Amazon to the best of my abilities

I have actually. The fact it's not popular in my country has definitely helped. I've had no more than 2-3 orders from them.

Did not see this coming at all. Shocking news.

I thought dpreview is the biggest most authoritative photography related site in the world. Is it not the case?

Could someone buy it from amazon?

Oh gosh!
Don't want to use dirty language but ... WT...?

I can't imagine my morning without browsing through forums and news at Your page.
It's so pity!
Why everything needs to be only about money? Shame Amazon, what a shame!
Wishy You luck. Maybe some croudfunded reboot will happen? I hope.

Will miss you very much DPReview.

I knew there was something up with all these "greatest hits" pieces posted recently.

Gut punch is right. You guys helped get me started a few years ago, and I still check this site 20 times a day - even when I'm not in the market. No one else comes close. I am sad, and grateful for all your help and entertainment over the years.

I hope you all land on your feet. Please let us know where to find you next!

I also wondered about all the recycled content recently, but I just figured it had something to do with SEO demands for constantly "new" content being published.

And are Goodreads and IMDB going down the drain w/ DPR?

Well this is truly terrible news. DPReview.com has been my go to photography site for over 20 years and i am truly sorry to see this outcome. It is my fervent hope that the team at DPReview can find a way to keep the site alive as an independent entity, and I certainly would be a supporter of a new site independent of Amazon which keeps intact the team and approach of DPR.

After all, I was a follower before Amazon and will stay after they are gone if the site continues.

This has been THE place to learn about tools for digital photography. Thank you to the staff -- I hope you can organize a follow-on to this wonderful site, keep your jobs, and continue to keep us all informed.

I have to wonder how much money it loses or is it not enough traffic, or if not sending enough business Amazon's way. On Aug 23 you posted "we are hiring" This site has been a daily visit for me for years. My go-to place for info, new camera evals, etc. Great community... Sad news indeed...

Oh, good grief, it's a bit early for an April Fools' Joke so I can only assume this is real :-(

This site has been a significant part of my online life since Phil Askey set it up a quarter of a century ago. I shall be very sorry to see it go.

All my best wishes to the staff and I wish you good luck for the future.

Well that's a massive shame - you'll be missed, even over here in Chesterfield, England.
Good luck guys!

Wow. What a gut punch.
This has been a goto for many people. A touchstone.

Surprised there is not a way to maintain this. So many people contributing. So much demand.

Wish this was an April 1st joke.

Sad day. Years.

Can we request removal of all our contributions.

I actually checked the date if it's somehow already April 1st. :(
It's not funny.

With all the demand this should be possible.

If the top structure is limiting this, then it will come to be.

If there is no way to pay salaries... maybe another way.
I am willing to pay an annual fee. How many contributors do we have here? 10,000, 100,000, 10,000,000? Must be an easy way to keep my daily time-waster. ;)

Sad to hear this. I can not understand how such a vibrant space like imaging can not support this great website. I have learned a lot over the years from DPReview. Thanks!

This is a major shame. DPR is an outstanding site for photographers of all flavors. Is there nothing that can be done to reverse this decision?

This is so sad for all of the staff first of all. And heartbreaking to me as a participant for the last 19 years. I have learned so much and am so thankful for the staff and all the great contributors.

I can only hope there is a buyer or some way to keep dpreview going.
