}Lost Comet
i LONDON, Jan. Ai. A.P.-Ches
tdr Wilmot, author and radio amnouncer,
was the only Australian on board the
1 Coinet that crashed yesterday.
The jet airliner was carry
ing 29 passengers and a'crew
of six when it crashed in
the Mediterranean off ,the
Island of Elba. All are fear
ed dead.

Comet' but for an appoint
ment with his wife..
He had met Mr. Wilmot at
Rome yesterday morning and
they had had coffee together.
Wilmot told Monks that
she seat next to him on the
Comet was vacant and in
vited him to accompany him
for the rest of the trip.

The American film pro
ducer, Mr. Victor Pahlen can

the last moment because he
had heard it had been' delayed
at. Rome.

disaster.

have been stewardess on board
the lost Comet, was in Lon
don last nigh: when' told of
the crash.
She was flown home fromt
Karachi when she was taken
ill on the Comet's .outward
trip to Singapore.
Miss Jean Clark, 23, took
her place.
