ローカルタイムラインだけで活動していると見えないものの一つがブーストです。
余計な情報をみないで済む面もありますが、これがないと、リモートサーバとの接点がとても少なくなります。
あとリプライですね。
興味があって、フォローしている人同士がリプライで会話している場合、ローカルだとみえませんが、ホームなら見えます。
最初は、ローカルから（見たくない人は含めないように）フォローしていって、ホームがローカルのサブセットになるようにしておくといいと思います。
さらに、ブーストされた投稿も流れてくるので、その中から興味のある人をみつけてフォローします。
そのうち自分のタイムラインが育ってくるので、たまに会話の流れで見えない人がいたらローカルも覗いてみて、未フォローの人を回収。
ここまでくると、フォロー相手をエクスポートすれば別のサーバに引っ越ししても同じタイムラインが再現できるので、サーバから離れられるようになります。
自分じゃない誰かになにか勧めるときは、できる限り、なにか別のものを悪く言って対比して自分が好きなものを勧めるんじゃなくて、シンプルに好きなものの好きなところを伝えられる人になりたいとは思った。

HyoYoshikawa<p>あまり一般に認識されていないと思うのですが、鯖への負荷がかかるのは単に登録者の人数だけじゃないんです。</p><p>特にうちのような小規模サーバーはマストドン界全体のトランザクション（データの流れ）が高まると如実に影響を受けます。たとえば今、jpの登録者が一気にに10%増えただけでもかなりの影響を受けるんですね。だから蒼鯖は大変そうだからほかを選ぼうかな？と思っていただいてもそう「効果」なはいということです。</p><p>時折愚痴めいたことも言いますが、言うまでもなくマストドンに移民して来られる方は大歓迎であることはもちろんです。他の住民もそうだと思います。</p><p>ただ来られた方が自由に自分に合ったサーバーを選んだり、時には自由に引っ越したりできるためには、マストドンインフラは、まだあまりにも脆弱なんですね。それで、モゴモゴ言う時もありますが、そのへんは新しい方は気にせずにまずは自分に合った鯖を見つけて楽しんで欲しいです。</p><p>で、ちょっとして落ち着いたらどこかの時点で問題意識を共有してほしいかなとちょっと思うわけです。</p>

峰/mine<p>Mastodon、はじめは「未収載？フォロワーのみ……？」って公開設定に迷うよね。</p><p>公開→誰のLTLにも連合TLにも見えるﾄｩｰﾄ</p><p>未収載→あなたをフォローしてる人のHTLだけで見えるﾄｩｰﾄだけどBTされると他の人のHTLでも見れるﾄｩｰﾄ。HTLのみで絡みたい場合やリプライ、他鯖ﾄｩｰﾄをBT後に言及ﾄｩｰﾄする時に使ったりすると良いかも。LTLには流さないけどHTL以外の人にも届けばいいな〜みたいなﾄｩｰﾄで使ったりしてる</p><p>フォロワーのみ→自分のフォロワーのみにしか表示されないﾄｩｰﾄ。ごく内輪の話や表立って言いづらいこととか……</p><p>ダイレクト→TwitterでいうDM。</p><p>用途によって使い分けてみよう！</p>
