There have been eight other movies before me, and we've filmed you can film a boxing match in many different ways. It's a long shot, but it's still a refreshing and innovative idea for this movie and other boxing movies.
“A normal bodybuilder exercises twice a day. I'm playing Killian Maddox. Playing him, dammit. What ended up happening is that he trained for two hours, twice a day for the movie and a third time after the end. Meanwhile, you eat six times a day. A lot of chicken. Lots of moose. That's just for me. I like it,” Majors explains.

“I am 6 feet tall (1.82 meters). I weigh 202 pounds (91 kilos). To sustain that and grow, you have to eat as much protein as you weigh. I ate 6,100 calories a day for about four months. That included the work before and after Creed III”, concludes Jonathan Majors. In addition, Majors has taken advantage of his excellent form to play a very warrior Kang the Conqueror and that we will soon see in action in the expected Ant-Man and the Quantumania Wasp.

Creed 3, Michael B. Jordan and the directorial debut: “I was able to count on a fantastic team”
"Creed 3" will be released in German cinemas on Thursday, March 3th, 2023. The performance lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes. Creed iii will see Adonis return to screens around the world, the heir of Apollo Creed, antagonist and then friend and mentor of Rocky Balboa in the film saga dedicated to the Italian Stallion of Philadephia. To interpret the protagonist will be, again, Michael B. Jordan who, for the occasion, will also make his directorial debut in the film.
During a chat on The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon on the US broadcaster NBC, Jordan was able to talk about the experience and difficulties encountered in having to simultaneously manage the double role in front of and behind the camera.
"It's hard. Sometimes I was managing in my mouthguard and boxing gloves and you are dependent on so many people. They are your team and they are all you have. Shooting the fight scenes may have been easier, honestly, because I could direct while acting. If I needed the other actor to be in a precise point, it was enough for me too to move in a certain direction in order to have the shot I wanted".
Creed 3, director Michael B. Jordan confesses the great influence of anime for the fight scenes.
One of the biggest challenges Jordan faced as director of Creed 3 were the fight scenes.
The sequences, a true trademark of the Rocky saga since its debut with the first film in 1976, represented a particularly complex obstacle for him, both due to the need to give it the right realism and, in this regard, his partner in the ring. Jonathan Majors, recently said that the two ended up exchanging some real blows during filming and for the creative need not to repeat what has already been seen in the previous films of the saga. Jordan then explained that he found inspiration from Japanese anime, of which he has always been an avid fan.
“Having to deal with such a long tradition is a gift and, at the same time, a curse. There were eight films before mine and you can shoot the encounters in many different ways. Having my back against the wall forced me, I think, to think outside the box about how to make the fights in this film unique. Japanese anime have had a huge influence on this aspect“.
In the past, the director had already underlined how much the Japanese anime dedicated to boxing, in particular Hajime no Ippo broadcast starting from October 2000, had played a precious role in showing him the way to renew the film's ring sequences.
“In boxing anime like Hajime no Ippo, I really like the characters' self-talk about what's going on in the ring. It was really important to me that those scenes also show the emotional journey of the two characters, Adonis and Damian, and anime definitely played a big part in that inspiration.”
The 'inner dialogue' is a very common expedient in Japanese sports manga and anime. In addition to Hajime no Ippo, the Italian public certainly retains its memory by thinking back to the series dedicated to football and very popular in our latitudes Captain Tsubasa (better known with the Italian title of Holly and Benji).
Also in that case, the thoughts of the protagonists accompanied the game sequences on the football field, giving additional depth and motivation to the actions and rivalries between the various characters involved.
In Creed, Michael B. Jordan plays the role of the main character Adonis Johnson. Adonis is the son of world champion Apollo Creed. His father died before he was born. Although he never knew his father, he noticed that they had something big in common. Boxing is in the blood. Adonis leaves for Philadelphia where his father fought a legendary match against rival and friend Rocky Balbao. Seeing the same strength and determination in Adonis as in his father, Rocky decides to train him.
After many successes in the boxing world and the wise lessons of Rocky, Adonis is thriving in both his career and family life. When his old friend Damien Anderson resurfaces after a prison sentence, he wants to prove himself in the ring again. Which results in a fight between two former friends.
So in Creed III it is time for Adonis to stand on his own two feet. Rocky, played by Silvester Stallone, can no longer be seen. Stallone has spoken about this before. He said it was time to pass the baton to Creed. The story now revolves around him and the new generation.
The trailer of the film appeared 3 months ago, but to hype you up a little extra, extra images appeared yesterday. Get ready for Creed III! The film will be released on the silver screen from March 3.
After a delay, Creed III will finally be released in March and will see Michael B. Jordan return as Adonis Creed. Not only will the Marvel star be playing the film's lead, but this will be his directorial debut. In the past, Jordan has spoken about his love of anime and revealed in an interview with The Tonight Show (via Collider) that his love of Japanese animation had an influence on the third Creed movie.
He then added: “It's tough. Sometimes there is a mouthpiece, there are boxing gloves. You always depend on so many people. Your team is everything. So being able to be in the center of a boxing scene, honestly, sometimes it's easier because I can direct while acting. If I need to move you up a bit on stage, I move a bit like this and then I get the shot I need.”
In 2019, THR spoke with Jordan about his production company, Outlier Society, and the anime series gen:LOCK. During the chat, Jordan explained how anime helped shape him.
Creed III sees Michael B. Jordan's Adonis go head-to-head with Damian, played by Marvel star Jonathan Majors. The cast also includes returning stars Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu and Felicia Rashad, as well as new cast members Selenis Leyva, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II, Mila Davis-Kent and Canelo Álvarez. However, Rocky star Sylvester Stallone will not appear in the film.
In a new interview with Deadline, Jonathan Majors detailed his intense physical training for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantummania, Creed III and Magazine Dream.
As many of you know, during the pre-production of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (late 2020) Majors began intense physical preparation with the aim of dramatically increasing muscle mass for three extremely "physical" roles : Kang the Conqueror of Quantumania, Anderson Dame of Creed III and especially the bodybuilder Killian Maddox in the film Magazine Dream.
In this regard, the actor explained that, in these two years, he has followed a strict diet by minimizing carbohydrates and cutting many of his favorite meals.
