Toradar matchlocks were popular in India and the surrounding region from the 16th century up to the 1830s. Most were smoothbore, but this attractive example has a rifled "Damascus" steel barrel which has a blade front sight on the raised ring at the muzzle, gold scroll patterns near the muzzle and breech, notch rear sight at the breech, and integral pan with a slip on cover fitted to a chain attached to the right silver side plate. The ornate floral pattern barrel bands and various plates on the stock are silver, and the latter have some simple engraving.
Fine with distinct pattern welded patterns along the barrel, most of the gold wire accents, aged patina on the silver, and mild overall wear. The stock is very good and has general mild wear, a few repairs, some small chips and slivers absent, and minor cracks. Mechanically fine.
