The 2 GB limit. |
Recently, I uploaded an MPEG2 file that was slightly larger than 2 GB for
The Woman in Green, a Sherlock Holmes film. I tried different methods without success until
finally being directed to the "alternate method" by the site. Question is, did the whole file make it or was it truncated at 2 GB?
But, there's a larger question. Why does Archive.org have a 2 GB limitation at all? The last time I encountered such a limitation before was with a web host still using an "ancient" version of Apache server software.

Re: The 2 GB limit. |
Thanks for your correction. But, it needs to go a bit further. There are apparently a lot of FTP clients out there with the same limitation (I tried FTP first). Fortunately, after a little searching I discovered a freeware FTP utility that doesn't have that limitation - FileZilla. I'll use it in the future. I dislike "http" uploads (grin).
BTW, I decided to download the file I uploaded. And, the "alternative" upload method the site offers did work correctly and didn't truncate the file. Still, I'm an FTP lover and will forego http uploads from here on out.
