HISD board votes against firing Jack Yates High School principal Tiffany Guillory

After an outcry from community members, the Houston Independent School District board voted against terminating Tiffany Guillory, who had served as principal of Jack Yates High School. 

Six trustees voted against termination and three in favor. Houston ISD officials said they could not immediately say what the next step would be.

Even though he is 75 and living in Oakland, Sam Sheppard thinks about the trauma his family endured when he hears about executions, especially when one parent is facing death for charges of killing the other.
