Last year 118 children and teens between the ages of 10 and 19 took their own lives, according to preliminary figures from the Georgia Department of Public Health’s violent death reporting system. That doesn’t include the death of the 8-year-old. In 2020, 100 young people died from suicide; in 2019, 88 died.
