Unceremonious removal of DGP Vaid, an insult to Dogras: Harsh
9/7/2018 9:22:07 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 7: Questioning the removal of Dr. SP Vaid, son of the soil and one of the most decorated Dogra officers, from the position of DGP J&K, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Former Minister said that the centre and state govt. had once again insulted the collective sentiment of Jammu people.
Addressing media persons, Harsh said Vaid is known for his dedication, commitment and impeccable integrity, Dr. Vaid had made gigantic contributions for restoration of peace in the trouble torn state besides acting as a great motivational force for the police personnel. He said that it was one of the rarest occasions when a Dogra had been assigned the task of heading the police force in the state and his unceremonious ouster had caused huge embitterment in Dogra heartland besides demoralizing the police force. He wondered that on the one hand the govt. was trumpeting its success in smooth and peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra but contrarily the top cop who made it possible was removed and sidelined.
Terming it as another treacherous and motivated decision of central and state govt., he accused the BJP of desperately contemplating its resurrection through the new Governor and its 'Yes men' in administration. He said that Dr. Vaid, as an unbiased DGP, had declined to bow to the blackmail and presence tactics of BJP leaders which led to his ouster. He said that even earlier BR Sharma the then Chief Secretary and another upright Dogra officer was unceremoniously removed in saffron rule without assigning any reason.
Similarly another top Dogra bureaucrat Anil Goswami was unceremoniously sacked by BJP led government in Delhi. Not only that the central rule imposed upon J&K through the Governor declined to take any Dogra personality as Advisor to Governor, he lamented. And while the plum postings even in Jammu region had been given to Kashmir based officers, the Dogra officers were either made to work in most difficult and challenging situations in Kashmir or given insignificant postings in Jammu region.
"Enough is enough. With a highly disproportionate balance of power, Jammu was being marginalized beyond acceptable limits. And is it not the moral responsibility of the govt. to accommodate the states' diversities and regional aspirations in the politico - Constitutional and administrative structure of the state". Questioned Harsh while describing the decision of change of guard in Police as highly based, and prejudiced.
Seeking the roll back of the ill conceived and motivated decision, he cautioned that Dogras can't be allowed to be held hostage to the political whims of vested interests. He said that sufficient indications of politicization of bureaucracy were given by the BJP earlier on the joining of New Governor when its state President had claimed to be having all the four aces to his chest and described Governor as "apna banda" . And with the latest decision of removal of Dogra DGP having added to public fury, he said that a narcissistically pleased BJP and its itself aggrandizing leadership must remember that all such reckless moves would wipe out its existence from the Dogra heartland
