I started watercolor painting regularly about two years ago. I think I started painting regularly in the midst of the pandemic as a way to have something positive and tangible to feel proud of at the end of the day and to help me get through the monotony of it all. I'll be honest though, it was incredibly frustrating at first.
.. and still can be! ? Coming from more of a drafting background and being able to use precision tools, and then switching to the loose, flowing concept of watercolor really turned my head upside down for awhile. I overworked all of my paintings... A LOT. So through a lot of practice and error, youtube videos, and library books, I can safely say that... I'm still improving ? I'm a little horrified at how bad I was when I started, but am really happy with the progress that I've made! I started experimenting with adding gouache to the second Sunflower painting and really like the extra boldness of color. What do you think?
