📍Children's hospitals aren't the only ones drowning in respiratory patients—also general emergency depts, urgent care clinics, & pediatrician's offices. ➡️ED visits of kids age<5 for respiratory illness in NYC now HIGHER than last winter’s Omicron peak! medpagetoday.com/special-report

4) In case it’s not damn clear… The number of parents missing work because of sick children per month has surged to one of the highest recorded levels ever in Labor statistics in Oct 2022 ( > 100,000). Let that graph sink in!

You see pediatric hospitals filled w/children. You want to tell people about it. You want to tell leaders. When they say they didn't know, you'll know different. You want them to do 2 simple things. Text resist to 50409 and do it. Copy/paste the alt text! 1/2 - Rep 3/4 -Dem

You can look at any news source to see children hospitalized with RSV, COVID and even flu. Hospitals are full. Schools across the country are struggling with higher than average absences.

COVID mortality is ranked 1st in deaths caused by infectious or respiratory diseases in children. There are long-term consequences as well. Approximately 5-10% of the 57,670,000 children (per CDC MMWR) who have been infected will have longer term impacts

This could harm our future workforce, and doctor appointments can create issues for their parent's employment I am asking you to stand up for hospital workers, school stall, child caregivers, employers, and children. All suffer the consequences of unmitigated spread of respiratory illness.

Viruses like these spread through the air. We need to address this quickly. Hospitals can't wait. We need to

Understand that approximately 79% of our 73 million children have been infected (CDC's MMWR). They can be infected more than once. This is tragic. We need to

.@AndrewPaviaMD Just saw you on @KSL5TV (Top story hospital capacity, Primary Children front & center) quoting you about preventive measures...RSV, Flu, Covid; Hand-washing among these measures, but not a single word on ventilation/filtration or #SAFEindoorAIR? Loving the beard!

I just left Home Depot and all employees were wearing masks. Maybe excessive absences for illness is enough for some companies to start rethinking their policies just to keep their stores adequately staffed.

Nah…that would mean Americans would care more about their fellow Americans & the economy than their momentary “discomfort” & we can’t have that 🤦🏻‍♀️

And we can't get better vaxxed with neverending variants because transmission rates are so high. We need smart, swiss cheese mitigations efforts. Masks, ventilation, appropriate quarantine and vaccine with a numbers based approach for when additional preventions kick in.
