NTC and Fort Irwin senior leaders introduced the new strategic plan, “Building a Stronger Foundation”, which seeks to improve the quality of life for Soldiers and residents of Fort Irwin. The numerous quality of life initiatives are slated to break ground within the next five years. Click Here

Welcome to Fort Irwin, home of the National Training Center. Located in San Bernardino County, in southern California, about 35 miles north of the town of Barstow. The installation was established by President Franklin Roosevelt as a sub-installation of Camp Haan in Riverside, California. In 1981, the US Army created the National Training Center at Fort Irwin to train Armored Brigade Combat Teams to “Win the First Fight.”
