No, it is not. I have spoken to Putin only once and that was about 18 months ago. The subject matter was space.
He could be lying. A bunch of info came out that he was conspiring with other elites to buy out Twitter, so it's not like he's really trustworthy.

I think both sides have strong arguments, although moral only keeps us with the option of Ukraine winning. But as both options can lead to WW3, maybe it is inevitable. It‘s Putins fault, just as it was Hitlers fault back then, but maybe we have to face reality.
