Everyone across the UK should be preparing for a possible double surge of #Covid19 and #flu waves. Many hospitals are already seeing a worrying but anticipated increase in need. In some, more guidance needed for staff and patients re masks and ventilation.
Geeeeezzz—2 healthcare workers who wore full PPE (N95, gloves, gown, goggles) got #monkeypox in after visiting monkeypox patient. Despite **washing hands**, the 2 female HCWs both positive days later. They didn’t sanitize the clipboard & sample box! https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/28/12/22-1343_article…

EVERYONE STOP AND WATCH—This is what it looks like to live with #longCOVID.
“Everything tastes like dog shit”
“I can’t swallow”
“My hair is falling out”
“My food tastes like it comes from a dumpster housing a dead raccoon”

5) Even scarier is that UK is actively trying to depress childhood vaccinations for #COVID19 —there’s safe & effective vaccines for kids yet it’s not mentioned at all, while kids vaccines for flu are. It’s incredibly telling. And hence why UK kids are suffering high 2022 numbers twitter.com/kit_yates_math…
4) It seems hospitals in UK are buckling under the weight of record high waiting list and ER waiting times and ambulance response. I’m convinced the goal of UK conservative leadership is to make the NHS crumble so that it can blame NHS for failure and then force privatization. twitter.com/kit_yates_math…
At a time when the NHS is facing an unprecedented crisis
- record waiting lists
- huge delays in ambulance response times
- long waits in A+E
why are we doing so little to prevent a rise in covid hospitalisations which will surely make the situation worse?
3) Hospitalizations for #COVID surging across Western Europe, not just in UK. Autumn has barely begun. How bad will it get by winter? Unclear trajectory because we have over a dozen worrisome variants now, not a single variant wave anymore. Worried.
We're seeing a lot of illness in our clinics. Thankfully most don't need hospitalization, but most are going to school unmasked, even when symptomatic. We can help to prevent spread of many viruses by masking. Kids did it before with few complaints. #BringBackMasks twitter.com/DrEricDing/sta…
18) positivity for #COVID19 is surging in … in all age groups, but especially in youngest kids, who are the least vaccinated. Remember Omicron is more severe in kids compared to old strains. twitter.com/joepajak/statu…

7) most people don’t do nasal swabs correctly. Here is how by @DrEricLevi:
GO LOW. GO SLOW.
Going up is painful.
Going fast is interpreted by the nose as pain.
Going low and slow reduces pain and allows time for swab to absorb samples.
Rotate gently.
