This is the Second of the series and not as great as the first (almost impossible to duplicate/repeat), is very nice, thrilling. Drummond and the gang are together, taking care of black marketeers, fifth columnists etc. The shade of antisemetism, and jigoism were true of the era, and did not, I am sure reflect Sapper's own views. Its swift, its full of characters one cares for. So if the language is full of blood and thunder, why not?
Not everyone realizes that Bulldog Drummond spawned The Saint, first published in 1929, and Norman Conquest, in 1938 and a horde of British TV series including Secret AGent and the like, leading up to James Bond.
Worth reading, I got the audio, after re-reading it in print for several times. Its fun, its intoxicating, and it will be great beach reading for the modern readers.
Bulldog Drummond (1920)
The Black Gang (1922)
The Third Round (1924)
The Final Count (1926)
The Female of the Species (1928)
I have just begun The Final Count in eBook format. I have read these in both print and e formats. I wouldn't be doing so if I didn't like them. However, I do not read them one after another to avoid repetitiousness.
I will say that the amount of what today we call racism, is lesser in the novels after Bulldog Drummond. I discuss the racism in my original review. Clearly I have not let it stop me from reading more, mainly because I like to read books with settings beyond my personal knowledge--as these are.

The first time was as a school boy back in 1950.
