I'm keeping this spoiler free and sticking to the Netflix show, you're not here to get a review of the game. I'm a huge lover of the game (pre-ordered it and played it on my Ps4 and once I got a Ps5 played it again with a console that could actually run the game) so if you are like me you will love the show. The show is easily the best anime I've ever seen, the characters are all well written, the original dubbing is good and the animation style is amazing. What grants it a crown, other than the plot, it's how it shows a well know world (the Cyberpunk world) and it managez to introduce people that have never heard of the game to this amazing world. Seen it with my girlfriend that had never seen the game and she loved it aswell. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

A unique and unforgetable experience!

I went into this show expecting a cool sci-fi experience! Instead i got a rollercoaster ride that i wont soon forget! They really did a great job of creating a vibe and atmosphere that you wont get anywhere else!
Oh and NO.. YOU dont need to be familiar with the game to enjoy or understand this show! I knew zero about the game and i love this show! A shame we only got 10 episodes, because you never want this show to end!
Animation and visuals in particular was the highlights, but so was the story and characters! Even soundtrack was strangely good! Gonna listen to some of the songs!
At this point i see a show that has yet to get the attention it deserves!

One of the very best Animated Series on Netflix, easily at the level of "Arcane"
royhectorkabanlit18 September 2022
This Series is absolutely Phenomenal, I would put this as one of the very best Animated Series on Netflix, at least at par with "Arcane".
Personally I didn't like the Animation that much, I thought it was too dark and too chaotic at times. However, everything else is great, from the Characterizations, Storylines and Storytelling.
This is truly very Hard Core Science Fiction, they created a World which is beautiful and yet very strange, but also very familiar. You can appreciate the Technology they are using as they are similar to what we have now, but so much more advanced, especially in the field of the Cyberworld.
But I don't think it is for everyone, though. The Action Scenes are great, but they are also a bit too gruesome at times, I think some People will find it that.
Plus the Theme itself is pretty dark, with Crimes, Betrayals, Murders, etc. But if you get past that then you will have one of the most rewarding Series I have ever seen, despite its Bittersweet Ending.
This is one of the Must-See Series for me, if anything it will definitely be a Cult Classic. Yes, another one of those ...

You know a show is good when the only conplaint is there isn't enough of it

Warning: Spoilers
The show is great. The only real qualm I have is that it scales up to epic proportions way too fast. The last episode should have been something we would see in season 4 of a show.
I would have preferred something of a smaller scale that really shows all the intricate details of what it's like to live in Night City. I felt like the fixer, voiced by Gus from Breaking Bad would have been a sufficient final boss for the season. Instead of having them go againsy the most powerful guy in the Cyberpunk universe. Perhaps it was because theybweren't planning more seasons, but Cyberpunk is way too big for just ten episodes mostly focusing on cyberpsychosis and cybernetic upgrades.
They managed to get details from the game like the city, map and weapons so well. I'd have like to have seen everyone's backstories. It would have given more meaning to help connect with them.
I compare this to something like as fantastic as Castlevania. But imagine Trevor and the others defeat Dracula and it's over in 10 episodes. But you know a show is good when the only complaint is there isn't enough of it.

Not a big "anime guy" to begin with, but this was fun from start to finish.

Like the title of my review states, I am not a big anime guy. I loved Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in a Shell during my teen years but never really found anything after that that grabbed my attention. Until a friend told me to watch AoT (Attack on Titan) which becane one of my favorite shows of all time.
I was one of the few people that genuinely enjoyed my time in Night City when Cyberpunk 2077 released. That being said I am sure it helped that I had a PC with the capability to play the game on all of its highest settings.
This show is a wild ride through Night City that never let's up from episode 1 all the way to the final moments of episode 10. I knew that the show was in development but was presently surprised when I turned on Netflix today (my day off) wondering what I was going to watch and it was just waiting there for me. I watched it from begging to end with a small break to cook food somewhere in the middle of the show. I found the story and the characters to be fun and intriguing. I also found it to be a breath of fresh air when it became apparent (very quickly) that this show wasn't going to play it safe or pull its punches.
After finishing my hope is that we will get to go back to Night City and see some more action. Very fun, will watch it again and I hope we get a renewal.
P. S. Yes it's animated, no it's not for kids. It's TV MA and it takes every advantage of that.

The storyline is amazing. The graphics are something you don't see anywhere else. What they have done in this anime has brought the game to life. I pray that they'll make more like this. Because there's nothing like it. If you haven't played the game this anime will make you interested in playing the game and if you've played the game it'll make you wanting more for the show and the game. I can't wait to see what's next and I pray there will be more.
The rest of this is just Babble because I can't put anything more without spoiling it. But I need to put 600 fing characters because it won't let me post it without 600 characters which is stupid. I will be waiting this app on the Google Play Store as one star until they fixed this.

This adaptation is amazing truly a work of masterpiece! And true to the original game Cyberpunk 2077. A well receive reimagining of night city and its chooms! It deserve the intention that we need to get back and play the latest patch and made me want to replay the game again! Job well done CD projeckt red!
The character and story pacing is done so well. With the game mechanic realistically in the anime! Really does bring you the vibe as playing the game itself. As for David the main character in this story. He is truly a loveable main char! And Lucy as well! Hope that they renew this anime for a second season! Heck trilogy if you must.

Fantastic anime for anime lovers and skeptics alike

This show was absolutely amazing with edge of your seat moments, great characters, and no plot armor for any of the characters. It had great pacing outside two or so episodes, but even those episodes didn't feel like a waste of time. Episodes 6 and 10 are easy 10/10s in my book.
Although the original language is Japanese, I watched the English dub and wow, they did a great job with it. Never noticed any dips regarding lip syncing, dialogue, or voice acting. In fact, they seemed to have planned the English dub cast with thought as they have Matthew Mercer and Giancarlo Esposito among others.
Even if you aren't a big anime person, watch this show. The typical anime tropes aren't there and it really feels like an anime for everyone.

I hear this is based on a game?
Well anyways, I've never played it. It was probably one of the best short run animes I've ever seen. No random useless episodes or scenes, but the character development was off the charts. I can hardly remember names of people, places, or things, but this show had me emotionally invested in every character to the point that if someone wasn't In a scene, I'd wonder what the hell happened to them. I actually signed up for imbd just to write this.
I binged it in a day and I had so many important things I had to do. I don't know if the storyline is finished, but if it isn't, I'll be on my toes waiting for any news of a continuation. At least I finished the show today, I'll be extra busy tomorrow. I wish more shows could be like this. Most shows nowadays have several main but forgettable characters.

If you are familiar with the game Cyberpunk 2077 you will feel right at home as soon as episode one plays. The show nails the atmosphere of Cyberpunk very well which is hard to do. For newcomers however you might feel a bit confused from time to time with: phrases and some old character cameos popping in and out however do not let that deter you from watching this show. The story and pacing is great especially for a show with ONLY 10 EPISODES. Sure there could have been better character development and some more explanation for newcomers but, keep in mind the show length and for me personally they do a great job with what there given and able to work with. OVERALL this show impressed me from the moment I hit play. If your a fan of the game watch it , if your a fan of Ghost in the shell & Blade Runner type science fiction watch it . The dub also is good and the sound effects are also "the chefs kiss". Overall give this show a watch Trigger did a fantastic job not only bringing Cyberpunk to life but, a believable science fiction world that only makes you wish that the show was longer.......9/10.
Its good

The storyline is actually good. I expected a real stinker considering where its coming from, but they actually did a good job on this one. The anime is colorful and in a style that make me think of the old anime Cowboy Bebop. They really tried to capture the Night City, and took a lot of Qs from the Cyberpunk 2077 game, and ran with it. The apartments, slums, dialog, everything screams Cyberpunk 2077 and its awesome. If you liked the game
Cyberpunk 2077 then this is totally up your alley. Its defiantly one of there better anime and worth a watch. This is so much better than some of the more expensive TV offerings curranty available.
Please season 2 please

Hello, watching this anime was very enjoyable and I am very satisfied with the story, script, graphics, design of Night City and the excellent English dubbing. It was all great. I personally enjoyed watching it.
And I am waiting for the second season to continue watching the story of the series. This anime made Netflix successful in the field of anime broadcasting.
Cyberpunk anime is very faithful to its game and comics and tells its own story very beautifully, and the audience can enjoy it if you are a fan of cyberpunk anime or game.
I suggest you to even watch this anime and get high and very good grades after watching it IMDb share it.

Great if you played the game
jochemunlimited14 September 2022
I played the game many times, also when it was still full of bugs. I really like the world, the feel of the weapons, the people etc. So I bingewatched this series.
I want to play the game again! It looks like the game, the world is not so much alive but still you get the right vibe. What struck me the most is the way they look at the body. It is just a tool, nothing more. This series will show you raw style.
Sometimes it is confusing with the scenes, but it fits.. Overall it is great, also the style of drawing is nice. Sometimes I have the feeling the bad guys cannot hit normal and their heads pop like cherries, so sometimes it looks like they use a cheatcode ;).
But the world is great, I want more stories! I give it an 8 because I think that if you did not play the game, you will not understand things happening.

Not just another anime
seymourgutz18 September 2022
We aren't usually anime fans, but my wife and I binged this in 2 days. Fantastic art and direction that successfully blended western and japanese sensibilities. I don't want to spoil anything, but it doesn't play out like you'd predict. If you like comic book universes yet are sick of the goofy whiny tone of recent Marvel offerings, give this a chance. It's not quite the masterpiece that Arcane was, but still one of the best reasons to keep your Netflix subscription. Hopefully everyone watches the heck out of it so we get another season, but regardless Season 1 already has a satisfying conclusion.
A great companion for Cyberpunk 2077 and also a great action packed sci-fi anime.
aratondisane13 September 2022
Just finished watching this one on a binge. I gotta say, this brought back times when I first saw Ghost In the Shell. The anime it self really hits all the tones that I love about the genre. The over the top action and brutality, but this time it is packed with a gripping story. While the gory parts remind me of Hellsing (the Anime series), the action is definitely something unique from Studio Trigger.
What I also find interesting about this anime, is the attention to detail and how well it gives you back the visuals of Cyberpunk 2077 and the feeling of being in Night City. It makes the locations and characters very familiar. When you watch the anime and play the game, you can catch locations of interest and bonus items in game. It was a really interesting experience visiting these locations in game especially after finishing all 10 episodes.
The characters don't feel alien to this genre except for Rebecca's character, I my self said: "meh whatever.." she's there for the comedy element which you sometimes really need in the midst of action and drama that the series throws at its viewers.
I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys sci-fi anime.

This show leaves a mark in CYBERPUNK genre!!!! Wow.
marveller-6616 September 2022
This kinda gave me the vibe Arcane gave last year. Although I prefer sub over dub I watched this in dub and liked it a lot. The combination of punk music and conversations are engaging af. Each episode gets better with amazing developments from every parts. World-building, character development, pacing and depth. And the sound mixing and animation is also terrific. Characters are incredibly likable. I'm loving this so far. Only watched first 4. The animation is very smooth, and I love the art style. The cinematography is brilliant and unique. Honestly I got no complaints. A few pacing issues at the beginning but even that got better as the story advances. Excellent work by the crew. One of the my favorite Netflix show ever. Probably on top 5.
Everything the game could have been

I had mixed feelings going into this anime, because of the bitter taste Cyberpunk 2077 had left me with. I liked the game, I was fortunate enough to be able to play the game, but I couldn't help but feel cheated , because the game I played, was not the one I had been promised for 8 years, and definitely not the one I thought I would play.
So I got into this anime with low expectations. I am glad I've been proven wrong.
This anime is almost everything the game should have been, but wasn't.
Striking animation and visuals : check. Compelling story and interesting characters: check. Riveting on-theme music: check. Fast paced and entertaining: check. True to the Cyberpunk sub-genre: check.
It takes place in Nightcity, as envisioned by Mike Pondsmith and CDPR , only without the bugs and crashes hehe. People who have played the game, will undoubtedly recognize many of Nightcity's neighborhoods, streets, bars etc, which is a plus, because regardless of the status of the game, Nightcity was very striking, and in the anime, it is even better.
It is a very well made, entertaining anime, and the best part is that you don't have to be a Cyberpunk fan to enjoy it, I believe it can be enjoyed by everyone, because it is so well made. A solid 8/10 from me.

This series is a straight up masterclass on Character development
b-guihot16 September 2022
From the moment i started the first episode i was hooked and in one swift sitting found myself watching the entire series on the edge of my seat.
The character development is truly brilliant and the entire time you are invested in the relationships of the characters and overarching story line.
The world is vibrant, utterly brutal (this is a Gory action with heart) and incredibly detailed for a series that only had 10 short episodes to build with.
David and Lucy are just the perfect characters to place front and centre and you truly can't help but want everything to work out for them.
The series had so much more heart than i was expecting and, I will likely have the final scenes on my mind for weeks to come.
This one will stick with me.
Possibly best animated series of the year. Highly recommend.

Basically expected CP: 2077 at its release state, but somehow got one of greatest anime of all time, which, funny enough, is like exact opposite of how CP: 2077 release went.
I originally didn't like the visual style (like vivid version of Cowboy Bebop) but grew fond of it after an episode or two. Because it turns out that over the top colorful visuals and much darker story underneath makes a great combination, reminiscent of the Nigh City itself... with its sins hidden under pretty colorful neon lights. It also got thrilling scores playing non-stop and these were on point making the overall scene better - not a single moment I thought music is off. And characters are also well constructed and believable in the world they reside, with some developments simply poetic. Overall just great... very easy and pleasant to hold suspension of disbelief until the very end.
The only thing I didn't like is the pacing. There were simply too much story and character development clamped into 10 episodes. Things were developing in such a quick pace and I don't think it gave audiences enough time to bond with the characters. With that being said, presentation is still solid in a rushed pacing so had no problem enjoying it... but can't stop thinking how much better the show would've been if it was a 2 season 24 episodes run.
Oh and a side note... there were also tons of source material and game references like Afterlife, Old Net, Basilisk, Adam Smasher, and gangs etc, but these were self contained so people who're not familiar with the game or universe can also enjoy it.

I was not expecting this show to have such an impact on me. I am not even a fan of anime, but this show was truly amazing. Absolutely phenomenal and heartbreaking. A truly moving piece of storytelling. Currently debating what to do with myself now that I have finished it. I want to watch it again but I'm not certain it I'm prepared to go through that journey again just yet. Wow. I am stunned. Masterpiece is a word I'd say gets thrown around too much but this show definitely reaches those heights. Unbelievable.
The pacing of the story is very good. The characters are genuine and interesting. The artwork is breathtaking in places and the soundtrack is wonderful. This show will have you listening to the soundtrack immediately after you've finished it because you want to relive some of those magical moments.

If u r also a blade runner/akira/ghost in shell guy like me than u r gonna love this. Night city has a lots of stories to tell and edge runner feels like a main quest from cyberpunk 2077. Even tho the game didnt do enough justice to cyberpunk genre but i think this anime adaptation slightly doing damage control.
The character development of david and lucy was an amazing experience.it really takes to the 80's cyberpunk anime world.you will get lost in the amazing night city.
Resemblance to the game is very clear and those who have played the game surely recognixe many things.the voice acting was good for both english and japan.

This show is studio triggers best piece of work so far. The animation is stunning, the coloring is so crisp and the story is fantastic. Went in with no expectations since I didn't play the game and now I want to go play the game since this show was so awesome. I hope its a runner up in Crunchyrolls anime awards and isn't undermined by shows like Chainsaw Man, Bleach: TYBW, MHA S6, and some other shows. I hope this isn't a one off show and that other stories within the cyberpunk universe are shown off in the future. I also hope that people don't ignore this show just cause it's an anime. Be open minded and give it a shot. You won't regret it.
Excellent anime
chariekim18 September 2022
A beautifully crafted anime. Storyline and character development is excellent. A show is only as good as its ending and the ending of this show will stay with me for a very long time. The creators did an excellent job closing the narrative. An emotional anime that knows how to tug at your heart strings. If you take away all action and goriness you are left with a show that depicts love, sacrifice and hope. Visuals are eye watering and the soundtrack is oustanding. A very good adaption of the video game but also a very good show by itself. Would highly recommend the show to anyone who is on the fence about watching.
Brutal, noire, but also wild.

As a fan of Cyberpunk worlds, this show showed me that a Cyberpunk world is not one you want to live in.
There's no hope, no friends, you can't trust anyone, there's only capitalism.
It was a bit disappointing that characters also have low intelligence and little depth and they all think they're "special" without having any long-term goals. They just live gig by gig.
The show shows the hopelessness of Cyberpunk. There's no humanity, it's all just transactional and no one cares about anything than making money.
However, I was hoping that the show shows a bit more than just that and brings more nuance into what Cyberpunk could be.

"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" is a Netflix Original Anime Series set in the Cyberpunk 2077 game universe. Under uneasy circumstances, the main character David has to suddenly drop out of his corpo school to become an edgerunner. The story vaguely rings back to the game story. Also main characters follow the archetypes of game characters albeit not very close. Same locations like Afterlife, the Mox club, Embers. So yeah.. Cyberpunk, Netflix... These two are no strangers to disappoint their fans. However I found the series suprisingly good. First of all its the visual. MY GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. The colors are bizzare, glitchy, sometimes even absurd to the point when you pause and spend few seconds trying to understand what are you looking at. I'm serious - hats off, I'm bowing before the art director, designers, the people who actually drew it, all the crew. Y'all freaking nailed it! The atmosphere on point, exactly the way I imagined Night City would feel. The characters are also bizzare yet inviting and develop really well that you instantly care for them. So yeah against all odds the show was epic, I loved it. Well done.
