I'm really enjoying the use of game UI and sound effects so far. I suppose it wouldn't make much difference to somebody new to Cyberpunk 2077, but if you've played the games, there's just a certain little emotional jolt you get from hearing those drone noises...
That "I told you so grin" hits different
i kinda zoned out halfway through the episode, what exactly is the "I told you so" about again?
Seeing Lucy go through the Breach Protocol while Quickhacking to speed up the hacking of the drones was such a great detail. I'm loving how many elements from the gameplay transitioned to the show.
I cant tell if she just wears a mask or if that mask IS her jaw so to speak
Well, I definitely wouldn't have taken Pilar's hands myself since he 100% used those to jack off. I'm surprised they didn't even make a joke about that. But man... Maine's gonna fucking die and give David his parts, isn't he? At least, I think? It would be kinda awkward if he has to walk around with those gorilla arms, though.
Jesus, they got that kind of snuff porn in this universe? That's just fucked up. It makes sense that their creator would also be a fucked up guy. He's one of the worst kinds of villains to deal with; the type that can't be unnerved by anything and feels like he wins no matter what you do. David literally just told him he's "built different" tho, lmao.
The Cyberpunk tabletop RPG is incredible, 2020 or RED if you want to play in 2045, and yes, Cyberpunk as a setting has some INCREDIBLY fucked up shit in it, but that's because it is a fully realized setting, new things might get introduced but the setting is perfect, inherently.
Edgerunners and 2077 barely gets into the kind of stories that can be told in Night City
That was a tense episode. Great use of the game's combat music, actually felt more tense watching this than playing the game myself.
Somehow I actually felt bad for the BD maker? I felt like he is probably one of the few that would truly understand David and what he's going through/will go through, since he's got extensive knowledge on it, you know? So perhaps it was more of a foreshawing of the inevitable end that will catch up to David.
So I guess the key takeaway here is, if you're gonna double cross, be sure to exit early so as not to get caught in the crossfire lol
Was also wondering when we were gonna hear more about the Arasaka boss, now everything finally weaves into place nicely.
Oh, and when David was kidnapped you could really see that Lucy's got the feels for him now, makes me feel bitter sweet even though nothing bad's happened yet? I feel that they won't get to have a happy ending and I dread it.
I couldn't understand 90% of the first 5 minutes of this episode because of the awful subs but the fact that I'm enjoying this so much while missing half of the plot speaks volumes to how damn good this is.
I'd say this is one of the rare instances of dub being better than sub.
i think the anime shows how the game could've been something really, really special but the devs rushed it and it fell on its face.
like imagine fallout level of RPG in Night City... shame we got such a shallow game.
as for the anime so far 10/10, i can't really come up with any criticisms
Trigger is my favorite studio, but so many of their shows follow clichés or are too predictable. I was worried going in, but the writing in this show is so sick, better than the game even. I get that Cyberpunk 2077 is full of clichés because they want to you experience famous cyberpunk moments for yourself, but it never goes anywhere interesting and is so predictable. This feels novel, fresh, interesting. I mean this guy's story of making these gruesome BD's is such an interesting take. The commentary on people enjoying the carnage from a first person view brings up so many thoughts and questions. This show makes me feel things, uncomfortable at times. A lot of people forget that Cyberpunk has some sci-fi roots and explores the human condition.
Well I do agree that the game could have been something truly special, I just don't see the connection with an anime. You're able to do so much more with medias like movies, anime, TV shows, comics, etc. I feel like we have not reached that point with games. You can tell a great story but can truly utilize every aspects of the world? Probably not.
Probably the one thing that this anime has shown that they truly messed up is the crew aspect. It made me realize that once Jackie died, they basically wanted you to focus on one your love interests as a type of crew(probably say Nomads is the closest thing to getting a new family
Is calling them "cyberpunks" a Cyberpunk universe thing? Since it's the name of the genre and not the characters in it.
Under Edgerunner on the wiki
Someone who lives on the Edge.[1] A cyberpunk, that is to say, someone who has immersed themselves in the era of technological change by implanting cyberware, enhancing their abilities, using weapons and/or their cunning and perceptions in order to oppose the megacorporations.[2] They usually work outside of the law.
Pretty sure Edgerunner and Cyberpunk are synonyms.
“So that’s it? I guess we’re some sort of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”
Since all episodes released on the same day, not many will engage with the episode threads (except for maybe the first and last episodes)
I had to switch to JP audio for a minute to see if they gave this dude Mayuri's voice actor. I was disappointed.
I really want to see David use those huge arms. It would look really goofy normally but if Trigger is animating it I know they can make it cool
It was with this ep that I realized all the episode titles were song titles, I think I know like 7 of these songs.
Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e Season 2, episode 12
Alternative names: Classroom of the Elite II
